COE Installation Quality Bulletin Installation Quality Bulletin Number: 07-04 To: QTI / Central Office Operations Representatives / Design Engineering Representatives / Quality Managers / Field Engineering Representatives / AMC Representatives Date: Monday, December 21, 2007 From: QWEST Installation Quality Assurance Subject: QTI CYBER CENTER INSTALLATIONS Action Required: NO: YES: Description of Bulletin: Installations of QC equipment, within a QCC Site (Cyber Center) environment should follow per QCC Document Number 00425 Chapters 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. When installation requirements are not addressed in QCC Document Number 00425, QC Technical Publication 77350 will be adhered to. Points of emphasis; 1. Slack fiber shall not be stored in fiber duct system. Sufficient fiber slack trays should be added to store excess fiber length. 2. Sufficient towel bars should be added between shelves front and rear to correctly manage cables in and out of the shelves. 3. Shelf numbering is from the bottom of bay to top, in numerical order. Equipment shelves shall start with SH-01. Fuse Panels mounted at the top of the bay shall be numbered per 77350 Par. 8.3.4. 4. Two-hole compression lugs cannot be cut to make a one-hole lug. 5. Heat shrinkable tubing should be added around ground cable lugs. 6. Plastic tie wraps are not allowed. 7. Cables within the bay upright shall be properly laid down next to each other and arranged in an orderly manner and sewn to the cable management bracket. Refer to 77350, Chapter 5, Figure 5.8. 8. CAT5 cables should be cut to proper length between equipment. Excess cable slack shall not be stored in the bay upright or cable rack system. 9. It is not acceptable to run Quad or higher sheathed fibers in a fiber duct system. QCC will only accept single and dual fiber Jumpers within the Fiber Duct System. 10. Appropriate bay and shelf designation labels, per 77350 8.22, shall be applied to properly identify far end locations. When Installation requirements within QCC Document Number 00425, Technical Publication 77350, and the specific items above are not met within the Design Work Package (DWP) the installer shall identify and resolve the issue with the Design Engineer.
