isorganizedbytheAsiaPacificRoundtableonSustainableConsumptionandProduction(APRSCP)andishostedbythe
MinistryofEnvironment,KingdomofCambodia,inpartnershipwiththeInternationalInstituteforScientificResearch

(IISR).The12 APRSCPissupportedbytheUnitedNationsEnvironmentProgramme(UNEP)throughtheSWITCH-Asia
RegionalPolicySupportComponent(RPSC)oftheEuropeanUnion(EU)andbyotherpartnersincludingEUSWITCHAsiaNetworkFacility,theNetworkonResourceEfficiencyandCleanerProduction(RECPnet)withtheUnitedNations
IndustrialDevelopmentOrganization(UNIDO)andtheChinaNationalCleanerProductionCenter(CNCPC).

The12 APRSCPthemeis"CallforAction-ActingTogetherforourFutureSustainability."Themeetingiscallingfor
actionondevelopingandimplementinginnovativepolicysolutions,scalinguptechnologytransferandstrengthening

knowledge sharing on approaches for best practices on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). The 12 APRSCP will draw from the results and recommendations of the concluded activities and events of the EU SWITCHAsiaProgrammein2015-2016,the10YearFrameworkofProgrammeonSCP(10YFP),theSustainableDevelopment
Agenda2030,andrelatedAPRSCPresearchandprojects,suchasthepreparationoftheAsiaPacificSCPRoadmap.
3.Objectives

TheObjectivesofthe12 APRSCPareasfollows:
• Share progress and promote best practices, programs, local initiatives and lessons learned on SCP-related
initiativesincludingresourceefficiency,greengrowth,greeneconomyandsustainabilityrelatedpoliciesand
activitiestostrengthentheimplementationoftheSDGsinAsiaandthePacificregion.
• Identify synergies and build cooperation to engage actively in the implementation of the Asia Pacific
RoadmaponSCP.
• Share experiences and lessons learned in scaling up existing and new SCP strategies, tools and approaches
through research and information awareness, capacity building, technology transfer, innovative financing,
andmonitoringandevaluation.
4.Expectedoutputsarethefollowing:
• Recommendations on how stakeholders could contribute to the implementation of the Asia Pacific SCP
Roadmapattheregionalandnationallevel.
• Recommendations for regional and national programs/activities for research, communication, capacity
building, technology transfer, financing and monitoring and evaluation to scale up SCP best practices and
initiatives.
• Recommendations on national implementation of SDG 12 (“Responsible Consumption and Production
Patterns”)andotherSCPrelatedSDGtargetsandindicators.

5.RationaleoftheAgenda:
The12thAPRSCPwillhaveacombinationofplenarysessionsandfiveconcurrentroundtablesthatwillcontributeto

the output of the event, which are recommendations to the overall outcomes of the 12 APRSCP. The selection of
priority thematic issues to be discussed under the plenary and concurrent roundtables are based upon previous
decisionsofAPRSCPBoardandpartnerorganizationsinvolvedinthepreparationofthe12thAPRSCP.
a.PlenarySessions
The12thAPRSCPRoundtablewillhavethreeplenarysessions.Thefirstplenarysession:“TheCallforAction:Acting
Together for our Future Sustainability through SCP” will discuss the Asia Pacific SCP Regional Roadmap, which is a
resultofaaregionalconsultationworkshopandonlineconsultationtoidentifykeythematicprioritiesandactivities
(e.g.institutionalstrengthening,policydevelopmentandimplementation,policy-scienceinterface,capacity-building,
partnerships,andresourcemobilization)toachieveandpromoteSCPatregionalandnationallevelswithinthenext
threeyears.
The second plenary session: “Post UNEA 2: Delivering on the Environmental Dimension of the 2030 Agenda for
SustainableDevelopment”willdiscusstheresultofthesecondsessionoftheUnitedNationsEnvironmentAssembly
(UNEA-2) which was held in May 2016 in Nairobi Kenya. The discussion will be on the decisions reached on issues
pertainingtoSCPandhowtostrengthen/buildpartnerships,includingtheprivatesectorandcivilsociety.
