EMIS Web Integrated Choose & Book Choose & Book Process 1: During consultation with the patient the GP books the Choose & Book appointment and creates the Referral letter using the integrated Choose and Book Referral Screen (Steps 1 and 2 below) 1. GP books the Choose & Book appointment ● Retrieve the patient record in consultation ● Click on the Add button ● Select Referral ● Select Choose & Book Referral ● Click on the Referral Priority ● Select the appropriate Clinician from the drop down box ● Click OK ● Choose & Book is launched at the Appointment search screen There are 3 options to find the service you are wanting to refer to: ‘Clinical Term’, ‘Speciality & Clinic Type’ and/or ‘Named Clinician’ ● Select the Specialty and Clinic Type from the drop down lists ● Refine the search (if required) ● Click Search All Version 1.0 Last Updated by L Siggs 3 October 2014 1/6 EMIS Web Integrated Choose & Book ● A list of available services from your search criteria are displayed Click on a Service Name hyperlink to view additional information about the service (contact address & telephone number) click OK to close ● Select a Service by clicking the Select box to the left of the Service Name ● Click Appointment Search Version 1.0 Last Updated by L Siggs 3 October 2014 2/6 EMIS Web Integrated Choose & Book ● Select the appropriate Appointment by clicking the Select radio button to the left of the Appointment Date/Time ● Click Book ● A ‘Check Patient Details’ dialog box will appear, if the patient details are accurate click OK You can update the patient details by clicking on the Update Person button (if required) ● On the ‘Appointment Details’ screen click Submit ● To print confirmation of the booking click on the Print drop down box and select Appointment Summary with Password ● Click Close ● Click on the ‘Please select an option’ drop down box ● Click on ‘I have selected a service’ ● Click OK ● Click Yes on the service selection dialog box Version 1.0 Last Updated by L Siggs 3 October 2014 3/6 EMIS Web Integrated Choose & Book ● Complete the Referral details: you must enter a Clinical Term Read code ● Click OK 2. This will create a task for the provider to contact the patient directly to make the appointment. This can be used if no appointment slots are available to be booked ● From the ‘Appointment search’ screen, click Defer to Provider ● A ‘Defer to Provider Alert’ dialog box will appear, click Yes ● Check the patient details screen, click OK if appropriate ● Select the appropriate service to defer to by clicking the Select radio button to the left of the Slot Status/ Service Name You can add Appointment Specific Comments if required ● From the ‘Deferral Options Details’ screen click Submit ● Print off the Appointment Request from the Print drop down box, select Appointment Request Summary with Password ● Click Close ● Click on ‘I have selected a service’ ● Click OK Version 1.0 Last Updated by L Siggs 3 October 2014 5/6 EMIS Web Integrated Choose & Book Appointment Requests Rather than booking an appointment the GP can request an appointment. This allows the patient to book the appointment at their convenience outside of the consultation ● From the ‘Service selection’ screen click Request ● Check the patient details screen, click OK if appropriate You can increase the Appointment Line follow-up number of days to allow plenty of time for the referral to be triaged and dealt with by the clinic, before automatic reminder letters are sent to the patient. ● From the ‘Appointment Details’ screen click Submit ● Print off the Appointment Request from the Print drop down box, select Appointment Request Summary with Password ● Click Close ● Click on ‘I have selected a service’ ● Click OK Version 1.0 Last Updated by L Siggs 3 October 2014 6/6
