Summer Term Homework Grid 2017

Year 1 Homework- Summer Term - 2017
These are your child’s homework activities for this term. All the activities are linked to the work your child is doing in school. Activities may be linked to their topic
or a specific curriculum subject. Some activities may encompass a wide range of skills and involve children drawing on a number of subject specific skills to complete
an activity. Some activities may be independent, whereas others may include working together to produce, make or solve something. We would like children to build up
12 points throughout the term, selecting the activities, which they are interested in and want to achieve. Please remember that tasks can be done to suit your
circumstances week to week, which may be a little each week or more one week and less another thus allowing greater flexibility to work on home learning in an ever
busy world. When your child has completed a task please highlight on the sheet and date, (older children may want to take greater charge of this themselves). The
homework needs to be handed into school on Thursday 13th July. The celebration afternoon is on Friday 14th July at 2.30pm.
The Year 1 topic this term is “Carnival of the Animals”.
2 Point Activities

orchestra. Draw a map to show where the
different types of instruments sit in an

could look at some of Andy Goldsworthy’s
artwork for inspiration.
Complete some of the homework tasks on
the “MyMaths” website. Ask Mrs Glover
if you are unsure.
Record yourself playing a musical
instrument. Email the recording to Mrs
Glover. Perhaps you could start to learn
how to play an instrument.

Do some bird watching in your garden or
while you are out for a day with your
family. Take some photographs of the
birds that you see or draw them and bring
them into school for us to display.
Make an animal out of junk, Lego, play
dough, Plasticine or another medium of
your choice. You could make a few
animals and make a carnival of animals!

your choice. Draw and label the life cycle
of your animal.
4 Point Activities
Make an instrument and play a tune or
rhythm on it. Decorate the instrument so
that it looks colourful and attractive.
