What is Wellness?
Wellness is more than just “not being sick”- it is a balance of physical, mental, and social well-being.
Workplace wellness is a critical part of our overall health and wellbeing. If we feel happy, healthy, and
supported at work, we’ll likely feel happier and healthier at home and be better able to enjoy our time
away from work.
Here are some simple steps to becoming Well at Work:

Desk stretch: Stretch several times
throughout the day. Just stretch what feels
tight.

Eat Breakfast: It gives you the important
boost of energy to get you through until
lunch.
Lunch: Prepare your lunch in advance so
you are less tempted to eat an unhealthy
one such as fast food. Vary it up so you
don’t become bored with your meals.
It’s okay to snack! Have snacks ready for
when you get hungry. For example, keep
healthy snacks with you at work or school,
in your car, and at home. If you have a
healthy snack easily available, it’s less likely
that you’ll pick a candy bar or bag of chips
instead.
Move Around: Getting active during your
work day is a great way to fight fatigue,
boost your mood, and have an overall
positive impact on your health. Even just 10
minute bouts of exercise can add up to
provide health benefits. Some things you
could do are walking on your lunch break,
stretch break, or take an MHealthy Exercise
& Relaxation Class.

Supportive Environment: The more that
your environment is set up to support
health and wellbeing the more successful

Comfort Check: Make sure that your
workspace is adapted to you and your body.

Drink water: There are many reasons to
drink more water. Some include: to help
stay hydrated and keep energy levels up,
and to make you feel full so you eat less. Try
to keep a full bottle with you.
Walk more: If you drive to work, park
further from the entrance and walk briskly
from your car. If you take the bus, get off
one stop early and walk the rest of the way.
Take the stairs rather than the elevator,
those extra steps can really add up!
Just Breathe: To help with managing your
stress practice deep breathing.

Healthier Meetings: Offer healthier food
options at your meetings/break room to
counterbalance any unhealthy snacks. Take
a stretch break as a group during your
meeting.
Wash your hands: can help prevent you
from getting sick, how easy!
Home Life: When the day is over at work
don’t bring the work home with you. It’s
important to get rest and enjoy your life
outside of work; this will actually help you
be more relaxed at work!
