Autumn 1 – homework This year, homework will be completed half termly and will link with our topics in which we are learning about in school. We ask that children pick a different set of projects to complete throughout the half term, in school we will ask for updates each week of what the children are doing. Each child is expected to collect 100 points before the end of the half term. Science Maths/ English Geography Points Endangered animals Microorganisms Maths Mapping skills 10 Find information on an animal and explain its habitat. Create a list of 3 good and 3 bad bacteria, saying why they are good or bad. Show that you have practised your times tables at home Draw a bird’s eye view of a place you know and label it with a key 20 Find out about 2 endangered animals and compare them. Which is the rarest? Why? Produce an experiment about a type of food that has been affected by bacteria. Eg: leaving milk out of the fridge and write about what happened. Go to an area you know (garden/ park) to draw using birds eye view. Use grid referencing to mark points. 30 Give information about an endangered plant and a presentation about how we can help and why we should. Create a number presentation where you show your skills of place value (labelling the value of each digit, tens, thousands ect.) Shopping list – The next time you go shopping, add up all the items (must be 5+ items with different prices). Include a deal that saved you money and investigate how much saved. Create a map of an area. Use grid referencing to mark points and how to get to one point to another using compass directions and how long it would take to get there.
