Differentiate between instances of academic honesty and dishonesty b. List potential consequences of academically dishonest behavior Overview of Activities for this Section The Academic Integrity Module contains the following Learning Objects. By design, these objects can be delivered face to face or online. Pre-Class Activity Narrated Introduction Discussion Board Activity Multiple Choice Quiz ASU 101: The ASU Experience Page 2 Pre-Class Activity: Honesty/Dishonesty Survey Students can take the survey online or you can print copies and have them take it during class. As an instructor you can use the pre-formatted 5-question survey or select from the list of 16 possible scenarios in the Pool Manager. To complete this activity, students can do the following: 1. Complete the honesty/dishonesty survey NOTE: This activity was designed to be a pre-class activity. Therefore, it should be taken online. There is a paper option if instructors wish to complete the activity in class (see below). For instructors who want students to complete the survey online, the default survey provides 5 questions. All 16 scenarios are available through the Control Panel in the Pool Manager > ASU 101 - Honesty Scenarios. Materials Provided The following materials are available for use in this section. Supporting Materials Type Format Honesty/Dishonesty Survey Survey The survey can be: This survey presents several scenarios that represent honest or dishonest academic behavior. Step by Step Instructions (Online) Steps Activity Name: Honesty/Dishonesty Survey 1 In the course management system, students click the link to “Take the Academic Honesty/Dishonesty Survey.” 2 Read each scenario and select whether it represents honest or dishonest academic behavior. 3 Prepare for an in class or online discussion about the scenarios. Students will need audio to hear the presentation. A text transcript is also available. To complete this activity, students can do the following: 1. Watch the presentation NOTE: If you present this presentation in class, the placeholder slide towards the end provides you an opportunity to discuss your college, department, and/or instructor policies with students. Step by Step Instructions (Online) Steps Activity Name: Narrated Introduction 1 In the course management system, students click the link to Watch/Read the “Act with Integrity” Introduction. 2 Watch/Read the presentation. 3 Prepare for an in class or online discussion. ASU 101: The ASU Experience Page 4 Academic Integrity Discussion: Honesty/Dishonesty Using printouts of their responses to the honesty/dishonesty scenarios, students discuss why they thought the various scenarios constituted honest or dishonest behavior. Sample discussion questions are provided for each scenario along with sample students responses for a graded discussion. If this discussion is facilitated in class the questions should serve as the starting point for an in class discussion. If students complete this activity online the questions should be posted in an online discussion forum with suggested due dates for responses. To complete this activity, students can do the following: 1. Participate in the online discussion, OR 2. Participate in the in-class discussion.
