Study Center
The student center of Chalkable allows students to view apps that may improve their scores. Students may also take
practice tests to test their understanding of various skills.
From the main Chalkable page select the Study Center tab on the left.
Explorer Tab
The Explorer tab displays your classes along with standards attached to that class.

Classes: The class where you are struggling the most (weakest average) will display first followed by your
other classes in order by your current average (grade).

Assignment: Shows the next assignment that are attached to this class and how many days until they are due.
Click the link to view details about the assignments.

Standard: Each standard that is attached to this class will display along with your current score (grade) for that
standard. (The average score comes from the teacher’s grade book and is the average of all your scores for all
the items (activities) that have this particular standard attached. The words No standards will display if there
are no standards attached to the class.

Click the standard to view recommended apps to use to improve your grade for this standard.
When you select an APP (like Youtube), it will bring up specific lessons for the standard that was selected
(eliminating the need for the student to have to search on their own for content.)

Show More/Less: The first few standards attached to the class will display. Click Show More to see all of
the standards attached to the class.
Practice Test Tab
The Practice tab displays classes and standards that are attached to that class.

Click the Practice tab.

Select the class from the list at the top.

Select a standard to launch a practice test that will help you learn and improve your knowledge in this area.

All Standards: The list defaults to all standards for this class. Click the All standards drop down list to filter
the list below to only items for that standard.

List: The list of all standards attached to the class will display below with the following columns:

Standard: List of all standards attached to class. Click to take a practice test for just this standard.
o
Code: Standard Code based on Common Core Standards. Click to take a practice test for just this
standard.
o
Description: Brief description.
o
Score Practice: If you have taken a practice test for this standard your last score will display in the
Score Practice column.
o
Score Grade Book: Displays your current average for this standard based on the grades you have earned
on the items (activities) your teacher has created that are aligned to that specific standard.
Take A Practice Test


From the Practice tab:
o
To take a practice test for one standard, click the Standard in the list.
o
To take a practice test for all of the standards in the list, click Start Practice.
The first question/problem will display.

Standards: All standards covered in this practice test will display in tabs at the top of the screen. Click a
tab to move to a practice test for just that standard.
o
Close: Click the X in the upper right hand corner to close the practice test screen.
o
Answer Questions: To answer a question, select the answer and click Submit Response. You must
click Submit Response to save your answer.
o
Navigation: Click the

arrows to move to the previous or next question in the practice test.
Note: To view an attached app, select it from the Suggested Apps section.


Numbers: A number line
will display indicating the number of questions in the
practice test. Click a number to move to that question in the test. Questions that have been answered will
appear in yellow. Questions that have not been answered will display in white.
o
Suggested Apps: Apps that may improve your grade for this standard display below. Click an app to
view.
Click Submit Response after answering each questions. Any skipped questions will display with a white
number.
Note: If your teacher has attached an ‘Explanation’ to the test question, it will be
shown if you answer incorrectly to the test question.

When the last question is answered, the Test Results will display.

When done, click the X in the upper right hand corner to exit the practice test screen.

Once the test is completed, the score will display in the Score Practice column.
Assessments
Click the Feed tab to view activities for the selected class.

The title of the item displays to the right of the Category and Section Information. In this case, the item name is
On line quiz. The student can open the assignment by clicking the blue font.

If an assessment is attached to the item, the Assessments icon will display.

Hover over the assessment icon and click Open.
Note: A message is displayed if the student attempts to take a test prior to the start
date and time.

Online Test User Interface

If the user selects the assessment and the date/time are within the start and end dates for the assessment, the
screen will display with the details of the assessment. The assessment name (top left) and time limit (top right)
are displayed.

Click Start
to start the assessment.

The time begins to tick down when the student clicks Start.

The timer stops when the student clicks the

The timer resumes at the same time when the start button is pressed again.


A scroll bar displays on the right side of the page if the item instruction or passage is too large to display on a
single page.

A number line displays at the bottom of the page indicating the number of questions/problems in the test.
Once an answer has been submitted for the questions/problem the number turns yellow.

Click Next

Note: Responses are overwritten each time the user selects Submit Response.

If the student exits the test without submitting responses a confirmation message will be displayed asking if he
wants to exit without submitting responses.

When test responses are submitted, a confirmation message will display informing the student that the test is
complete.

When the user clicks Currently, there are no tests or quizzes for you to complete the test score is
posted to Chalkable gradebook for the teacher to review and the student home page will display.

Click Online Tests

Click Exit

Click Feed to return to the student section activity screen and view the grade for the online test.
