The Belgian FA also plays
a team game for
making payments
Laetitia Van Doren, an employee at the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA), has been working with Isabel for eight years. And she’s
not the only one. In both the finance department and HR, a whole
range of employees make payments with Isabel. “I suppose you could
say that paying is a team sport with us, too,” says Laetitia.

Various employees in both the finance
department and HR carry out payments
using Isabel.
From training material to win bonuses
“As you’d expect, the football association’s banking matters are all carried out via our sponsor, ING.
We process national and international payments through about ten accounts. That includes paying
staff, invoices from suppliers and the win bonuses for the Red Devils.”
Multi-stage system
“With the World Cup coming up, there’s a lot of payment traffic to Brazil. Hotel reservations and
flight tickets, to name just a few. Most payments can be made with just one person signing. But
large amounts require an additional signature. When that happens, a second signatory logs on to
the system to approve the payment. It’s a multi-stage system that works perfectly.”
For large amounts, a second user
logs in to approve payments.
Business proposal
The Royal Belgian Football
Association (RBFA) represents
football clubs in Belgium. Every
season, it organises 300,000
matches for 2,000 clubs: from
provincial division four, through
to the clubs in the top flight. The
number one showcase team for
the RBFA is the national side, the
Red Devils. And behind the scenes,
the RBFA’s staff of about 150 all
make sure that the ball keeps
rolling smoothly, from preparing
for international tournaments to
unravelling the ins and outs of the
provincial competitions.
Fast grouped payments
“Isabel really demonstrates its true value when we process grouped payments via a link with our
Easy Open Financial accounting system. This means time saving of a couple of hours per week,
which enables me to analyse in detail the accountancy of our regional units for example.”
By linking Isabel to our accounting
system, it’s easy for us to make grouped
payments.
Challenging search module
Is there a flipside to the Isabel coin? Laetitia hands out one yellow card: “Retrieving account
numbers or amounts doesn’t always go as quickly as you’d like. Because you need to know
whether you’re looking for a Belgian or IBAN account number and remembering whether a large
amount has to be written with full stops or commas. And because I don’t use the search function
very often, it sometimes takes me a number of attempts to get it right.”
Isabel at the core
Isabel has been a valuable member of the backroom staff at the RBFA for some time. And that’s
not likely to change any time soon. Laetitia again: “The program puts in a fine performance every
day by simplifying payment traffic with multiple accounts and users. Operating Isabel is so intuitive
that even new staff are able to find their way through it straight away.”
at a glance
++ The RBFA organises its domestic
and foreign payment traffic
through ten or so accounts.
++ Both the HR and finance
departments use Isabel to group
payments and simplify tasks.
++ For large amounts, payments are
approved by two people.
++ The link with an accounting system
saves an enormous amount of
time.
++ Because Isabel is so intuitive, new
employees quickly find their way
around.
