Our Mandate
The mandate of Transnet SOC Ltd (Transnet or the Company) is
to assist in lowering the cost of doing business in South Africa,
enabling economic growth and ensuring security of supply
through providing appropriate port, rail and pipeline infrastructure
in a cost-effective and efficient manner, within acceptable
benchmarks. Transnet’s mandate and strategic objectives are
aligned with Government’s New Growth Path (NGP) and the
Statement of Strategic Intent (SSI) issued by the Minister of
Public Enterprises.

Transnet is a focused freight transport company, delivering
integrated, efficient, safe, reliable and cost-effective services to
promote economic growth in South Africa. This is achieved by
increasing the Company’s market share, improving productivity
and profitability and by providing appropriate capacity to
customers ahead of demand, within affordability limits.
