The Brandon Light Horse and Pony
Society Incorporated, is the oldest horse
organization in the Brandon area,
forming in 1935 in the Glen Souris home
of Mr. And Mrs. Fred Waldron originally
as the “Waldron Riding Club”. In 1944 or
1945, the club reorganized to include
other
groups,
including
the
MacPhersons, Williamsons, and Brandon
rides, calling itself “The Brandon Light
Horse Society”.
1935-2015
The Brandon Light Horse and Pony
Society Inc., was very unique in that it
represented the different disciplines of
English riding, Western riding, harness
horse, driving pony, and gymkhana
events. Over the last couple years the
club has focused more upon the English
riding discipline, particularly hunter and
jumper.
The club holds regular board meetings,
yearly awards banquet and three horse
shows each year; two schooling shows in
February, and the Wheat City Classic in
early June. The club currently has over
one hundred members from beginners to
advanced riders.

The Brandon Light Horse and Pony Society Incorporated are proud to present the 2015 Wheat City Classic
Horse Show to be held May 23rd -24th, 2015. The horse show will be held at the Westoba Agricultural Centre
of Excellence outdoor complex on the Keystone Centre Grounds, 1175 18Th St. Brandon.
The Wheat City Classic Horse Show attracts a large number of competitors from throughout Manitoba,
Saskatchewan and North Dakota each year. A promotional booklet is given to those who enter the show and
