Capitol BEST 2009 Grant Request for Freescale Semicondutor Collateral Information Requested The collateral information requested and provided here includes: 1. Evidence of tax-exempt status [copy of 501(c)3 ] 2. Notification deadlines for sponsorship approval, print or advertising collateral, etc. 1) Evidence of Tax Exempt 501c3 2) Annual financial statement Our 2008 Budget was set at $33,400. While we were able to hold our expenses well below this budget, we were not able to receive adequate sponsorship funding to cover our costs and therefore fell short by $5,763.91. 3) Board of Directors (Capitol BEST) The Capitol BEST hub is an independent 501c3 non-profit corporation. We received incorporation and 501c3 tax exempt status in 2008. We execute as a hub within the BEST Robotics, Inc. organization. Prior to 2009, we operated under the non-profit umbrella of BEST Robotics, Inc. as a DBA of that corporation. The Capitol BEST board of directors is listed below. All directors are in their first year on the board. In order to demonstrate our experience, we have indicated how many years each director has participated in the BEST program as an additional reference. Our program expenses are primarily in 3rd and 4th quarter. We begin ordering kit materials in March/April and will receive the materials for kitting in July. We will purchase materials for field construction in early July when final drawings are released. Materials for 2010 field development/evaluation may occur throughout the year. Costs for event preparation, venues, etc. and contest awards will not be due until the Fall (Sep/Oct). Banners or other Freescale advertising materials are requested during the week prior each event: Sep 12, Oct 3, Oct 17, Oct 23-24. An 8.5” x 5.5” B&W advertisement for inclusion in the contest program is requested by Oct 15. If funding is acquired to implement the Community Outreach program through Emmis Radio Austin stations, the campaign will air during late August, just prior to our Kickoff, as we recruit mentors and event staff volunteers. Freescale approval of the 60 second broadcasts will be requested during late July / early August.
