2018 Placement Procedure and Schedule of Deadlines for Health Care Administration
You are encouraged to make arrangements for tours anytime prior to the application due
date.
You are to have your application materials to the site - Mailed not Emailed by:
Friday July 28, 2017. If you miss this date, preceptors can disregard your
application. The application is to include: a cover letter, unofficial transcripts, resume, and two (2)
letters of reference. If applying to Presbyterian Homes, Alden, Good Samaritan and Benedictine
Health System sites, please note that you will be sending your materials to someone other than the
site administrator. Please reference the practicum site list for the person and address that your
materials should be sent to.
Between July 10 and August 4, 2017, you are to contact the preceptors of the facilities to
arrange a personal interview. Most sites will interview all students that apply, however they are not
obligated to do so. Selecting 3 sites that all have a history of receiving several applications is
putting yourself at risk for not having an opportunity to interview. If you are not selected to
interview, you are not allowed to select additional sites.
Interviews should be completed by September 8, 2017. You are responsible for your own
transportation and other arrangements and costs associated with the interview process.
Exception: UWEC recognizes that in some cases, distance to the practicum site and time
limitations may need to be considered in the placement process. Therefore, if mutually agreed
upon between the preceptor and the student, UWEC will allow an initial tour and interview to be
combined at the convenience of both parties. If mutually upon a phone or video-conference
interview is also acceptable.
By Friday, September 15, 2017 you must rank the three facilities to which you have applied. You
will do so by going on the practicum site list and using the pull down menu to make your selections.
You will rank facilities in order of first, second and third choices.
By Friday, September 15, 2017 each facility will submit a list of students they find acceptable for
the practicum. Facilities have the right at this point to reject an applicant outright, so no guarantee
of placement can be made and none is implied.
Second Round Placement
You will be notified no later than the first week in October of your practicum placement status. If
you are not matched in round one, the practicum coordinator will work with you to secure
placement. Geographic interest is not accommodated in round two.
