Q: I've heard the NRL costs $5000 per year
to play. Is that true?
A: No- in fact the WAM's per player budget
was about $2500, including the ERC
registration fee which covered game and
practice ice, refs and uniforms.
With fundraising, half the team paid under
$1200 for the season, and a few paid much
less
Q: I don't think I have time to commit to an
NRL schedule
A: The commitment is not as onerous as you
think; in fact, many say the commitment is
less than U19AA. WAM! practices roughly 2
times per week and plays NRL opponents on a
reasonable schedule that maximizes games
played in weekend opportunities. In 2014/15,
WAM! had only 2 trips out of province- one to
BC, and one to Ontario.
Q: I'm worried I'm not good enough to play
Open AA
A: You never know until you try! As a
famous Edmonton hockey player once said:
you miss 100% of the shots you never take.
