Angels - the Grand Union Vineyard Church

Angels
In the beginning – protecting the Garden of Eden
Through history - protecting people in danger
In heaven – magnifying God’s holiness & power
Luke 2
8 And
there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the
Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone
around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said
to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will
cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of
David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah,
the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby
wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2
13 Suddenly
a great company of the heavenly host
appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven,
the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem
and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has
told us about.”

Dazzling light!
1 Timothy 6:16
God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and
Lord of lords, 16 who alone is immortal and who lives in
unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see.
Exodus 34
30 When
Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face
was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.
Ephesians 5:8-11
8 For
you were once darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light
consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and
find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with
the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
John 8:12
12 When
Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am
the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk
in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You
are the light of the world. A town built on a hill
cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and
put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it
gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In
the same way, let your light shine before others, that
they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in
heaven.
