MEANS ASSESSMENT- INTERIM PROCESSES
All of the following Interim Processes are to be used when conducting a Means
Assessment in CCMS, where applicable. If you are unsure if the Interim Process

1. MULTIPLE BUSINESS PROPERTIES
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker needs to know the market value and loan for any
property that is unused, to add into the calculation of any business capital
assessment.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the additional properties.
This is currently unavailable.
Interim Process
1. If there is more than 1 property and any of them are unused: Enter the
address details for one property, confirm it is unused then enter total value for
unused properties in the current value/loan fields within the assessment.
2. If there is more than 1 property and none are unused: Enter the address
details for one property, confirm it is not unused then enter the total value for
all properties in the current value/loan.
2. MULTIPLE BUSINESS FAMILY EMPLOYEES
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker needs to know the total salary for all family employees
of the business to be included in the assessment.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the additional employees.
This is currently unavailable.

Interim Process
If there is more than 1 family employee to the business: Enter all details in the
current fields, for example, in the relationship you would input ‘mother and father’
and their combined total salary. Evidence will be required for all parties when
responding to the Document Request.
3. COMPANY SHELLHOLDINGS
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker must have information on all shares held by the client
applying for funding.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the additional share details.
This is currently unavailable.
Interim Process
Enter details of one company shares in the current fields and should they hold
shares in more companies please confirm this in writing and send this in as evidence
with the Means 1c with your Document Request through CCMS.
4. BUSINESS- BANK ACCOUNTS
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker must have information on all of the bank accounts your
client holds.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the additional bank
accounts. This is currently unavailable.
Interim Process
Enter one bank account in CCMS then confirm the details of all other accounts in
writing and send the evidence through CCMS by responding to the Document
Request.
5. EMPLOYMENT- UPCOMING CHANGES
Importance for the calculations:
If your client has multiple changes for the future in their employment this must be
confirmed in the means assessment.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add multiple reasons for a
change in circumstances. This is currently unavailable.
WORKAROUND

Enter all details in the current fields available, so in details of changes you could
enter ‘pay rise and due on maternity leave’ and in date field enter the date of the first
change to occur.
6. EMPLOYMENT- BENEFIT IN KIND
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker requires the total annual benefit in kind to calculate a
monthly income which is added to the wage calculation. This will give the total
client/partner wage.
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the multiple benefits in kind.
This is currently unavailable.
Interim Process
Enter all details in the current fields, so in details of the Benefit In Kind, for example,
enter ‘car and health care’ and in the value field enter the total annual benefit sum.
When responding to the Document Request send evidence for all of the Benefits in
Kind to confirm your calculation.
7. EMPLOYMENT- MULTIPLE JOBS
Importance for the calculations:
The LAA Means Caseworker requires the average wage totals for all employments
to be added together as well as PAYE and NI to calculate a monthly income and
deductions. .
CCMS has an ‘add’ button which would allow you to add the additional wage slips.
This is currently unavailable.
Interim Process
The client/partner has 2+ non hm jobs. All jobs have different evidence for wage and
have different frequencies of pay.
o Select ‘non HM’ and then manually work out the averages for both jobs
to per calendar month. Then total them up and then enter these totals
as one wage slip.
o Evidence must be submitted in the usual way to justify how the
calculations have been made.

8. ADDITONAL PROPERTY- THIRD PARTY OWNER
If your client has an additional property which is owned by more than one party, e.g.
your client, their ex-partner and a parent, please contact the LAA with the above
details for further information.
