SCENARIO
The school PE department wants you to produce an information leaflet for year 6 students at
Shamblehurst School, who will be attending Wildern School in September 2011. The leaflets are
to inform the pupils on the rules and regulations for one team and one individual sport. The
leaflets also must include the roles and responsibilities of the officials in the sports you have
selected.
The information will be used by the teachers at Shamblehurst School to introduce some of the
sports that the children will be participating in at Wildern School. This will help the pupils know
about the rules prior to starting their PE lessons.
TASK 1:

Pass 3 – Describe the rules, regulations and scoring systems for one team sport.
Pass 5 – Describe the main roles and responsibilities of officials in one team sport.
Merit 2 – Assess, using appropriate examples, the rules, regulations and scoring systems for one
team and one individual sports.
You need to design a leaflet for one team sport that gives examples of the main rules (Laws)
applied by the national or international governing body for the chosen sport (example FA, RFU).
The leaflet also needs to provide information on the regulations (performers, equipment, playing
surfaces, time, health and safety etc) and the scoring systems ( goals, runs, points etc). The final
part needs to give information on the roles and responsibilities of officials (are their umpires,
referees, officials, timekeepers etc) and what they are responsible for (rules, points, appearance,
control of players etc)
