Class emphasis is on fun, sportsmanship, match play, and modern skill techniques for today’s junior players. See schedule below. Session I: Jan. 10–Feb. 16; Six Weeks Junior Future Stars Classes Little Grippers (4–6 yrs.) Super Grippers (7–9 yrs.)* Jr Excel I (9/10 yrs.+ Beg./ Adv. Beg.)* Jr Excel II (9 yrs.+ Intermediate)* Jr Excel III (advanced)* Session II: Feb. 21–Mar. 29; Six Weeks Day Time Member Fee Wed. 4:00–5:00 p.m. $90 Wed. 3:00–4:00 p.m. $90 Thurs. 3:30–5:00 p.m. $135 Tues. 3:30–5:00 p.m. $135 Tues/Thurs. 5:00–6:30 p.m. see John concerning fee structure (3:30-5Pm during non day light savings time) * The After School program is designed to give participants a chance to play matches on Fridays after school. There will be a $5 fee for each member, and $8 for each non-member who participates in Friday matches – fee to cover the cost of a coach and balls. Spring Break Junior Camps:. Fun skills, drills and play during camps for all levels and ages. Camps will be held Monday through Wednesday April 2-4. Beginning/advanced beginning from 9am-noon, and intermediate/advanced from 2-5pm. Three days of great instruction, mid-practice snacks, and end of day treats. Fee is $117 fee for members. Summer Junior Team Tennis Signups: March 5th is the start of Rancho Summer Junior Team registration. Go on line to the Rancho web site, down load the application (mail in), workout/match schedules, and junior calendar. Ladies Future Stars For ladies new to the game or just getting back in the swing of things after a long layoff. Grips, modern techniques, strategy, and match play will be covered in this fun class. Session I: Jan. 8–Feb. 16; Six Weeks Session II: Feb. 19–Mar. 29; Six Weeks Ladies Future Stars Classes Day Time Member Fee Ladies Future Stars Tue. 10:3-am-noon $135 Ladies Future Stars Thurs. 10:30am-noon $135 Ladies Future Stars Sun. 3:30-5pm $135 Ladies Team Practices If you are playing on a C, B, or A Spring League or BALL team practices are: C (2.5–low 3.0): Monday 9 - 10:30am or Thursday 9 - 10:30am B (3.0+–low 3.5): Tuesday 9-10:30am or Wednesday 9 - 10:30am A (3.5+): Wednesday 10:30am - noon Team Practices: start on week of Jan. 9th and end the week of May 14th (18 weeks – no practices during Spring Break). You must enroll for the entire Winter/Spring season; Fee is based on number of players and coaches. Participants will be billed monthly and must find own subs. For team players – if signed up for and not committed to half of a Rancho team’s scheduled matches, the daily fee is the same as a Future Star class. Enrollment for Future Stars Jr./Lady’s Progams, and Team Practices Go to ranchocolorados.com , click on tennis, click on “click here to sign up for events or clinics”, find your Future Stars Class or Team practice and sign up. Men’s “Stroke, Strategy & Tactics” Sessions: John will be offering occasional clinics on a specific stroke or strategy and their use in playing; limited to 4 men/session, more to come on dates. UPCOMING EVENTS Ladies Flex Combo 6.5 Club Tournament: A flex doubles tournament for a combined 6.5 rated ladies. One partner signs both players up online. Depending on the size of the draw, the tournament will either be a round robin format or single elimination with a consolation round format. Play starts 1/21. Teams will have two weeks to play, and email John their match results. Trophies awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams. Entry deadline is January 15, 2012. Valentine Social Mixed Doubles, Feb. 11, 3-5pm: A fun way to celebrate Valentine Day with your mate or an approved one (if the spouse doesn’t play). Round robin format with all levels welcome from 35pm, followed by drinks and finger food. Sign up the same way as above Future Stars classes. USTA Spring Adult League: Sign ups on the USTA Nor Cal web site start Feb.1st. Rancho will be fielding teams for ladies 2.5, ladies and men’s 3.0, ladies and men’s 3.5, and maybe men’s 4.0. Go to ustanorcal.com, search for Rancho Colorados, click on a Rancho 2011 team you want, and register. You must be a current USTA member, and If you don’t have a current self rating, you can self rate on line. Play starts week of March 25th. If more information is needed, please call or email John. Rancho Social Mixed Doubles: This Spring Rancho will be hosting two Social Mixed Doubles events. These fun events will be a round robin format with a delicious potluck dinner afterwards. The first one will be on Sat. March 24th from 4-6pm. The second one will be in late April or early May depending on USTA Adult league schedules (Look in February for more details on the Rancho Web site). Molly Ogro is the coordinator. Sign up the same way as above Future Stars classes.
