Shellfish, fish or a soft goats cheese would go well with this wine. 12% ABV – 5 litres Organic Trebbiano, Claudio Menicocci, VinNaturo, Lazio, Italy 2015 This is a rich, even slightly ‘oily’ wine though still very easy drinking. Honeyed and slightly floral, this wine is made with indigenous yeast, has low SO2 and is only lightly filtered. 12.5% ABV – 5 litres Organic, Biodynamic Grüner Veltliner, Eschenhof Holzer, Wagram, Austria 2015 The wine is made in stainless steel with a cold fermentation. The wine is a refreshing, fruity style of Grüner with big flavours of green apples, peach, grapefruit and spice. The wine is made in a joven style (unoaked) with carbonic maceration, a method used to extract maximum fruit flavour but with minimal tannins. It gives juicy wines designed to drink young. yielding fabulous wild raspberry and plum fruit flavours. Delicious and very easy drinking. 13% ABV - Red – Bergerie de la Bastide Rouge Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2015 A savoury assemblage of grenache noir, cinsault and merlot. Clean, fresh red cherry and cranberry fruit flavours, plus a lively acidity. This is a delicious quaffable wine with fabulous fruit and just the right amount of tannic grip. This is an organic operation specializing in BIB format and making a wine of exceptional value. 12% ABV – 5 litres Organic Red – ‘Les Galets Rouge’, VDP du Gard, Rhone, France 2015 From a small co-op between Avignon and Nimes. This is a natural wine with no chemical treatment other than a little Sulphur. 50% grenache, 50% syrah and carignan the wine oozes southern French character with natural freshness. It is purple, soft and juicy with blackberry and black pepper flavours. 14% ABV 50cl Natural Red – Tragolargo, Bernabe Navarro, Alicante, Spain 2014 100% Monastrell, hand harvested and organically farmed. This is a medium bodied easy drinking wine, black and red fruit flavours and a touch of spice. This is very low intervention wine making, no racking, no enzymes, no fining, no filtration and no added sulphites. Lapierre was one of the spearheads of the natural wine movement. Uncomplicated with juicy red fruits and stone minerality from the granite soil. Drink on its own or with anything from the barbecue. Summertime fun. 12%ABV Natural Red – Nero di Troia, 100cl, Puglia, Italy 2013 100% Nero de Troia, with layers of lush supple soft fruit. Purple red with red berry aroma and a slight hint of spice, vinified in stainless steel. Delicious. 13% ABV Organic, Natural Red – Zweigelt, Eschenhof Holzer, Wagram, Austria 2014 The Zweigelt grape yields delicious fruity wines, red berries, plums and violets. Hints of black pepper spice from a year spent in very large very old wooden barrels. Could definitely serve lightly chilled, fab with a plate of charcuterie or pasta. 12.5% ABV – 5 litres Red – Barbera, 100cl, Piedmont, Italy 2013 100% Barbera with typical high acidity and low tannins. The grape has an appealing youthful blackberry tartness and works well with all manner of pasta dishes. Often served with the first course ahead of a more robust Nebbiolo. See below. 13% ABV Red – Nebbiolo, 100cl, Piedmont, Italy 2013 100% Nebbiolo from the home of Barolo. This is a full bodied intense wine with robust tannins and medium acidity. Smokiness, tar even from French oak ageing with layers of brooding dark berry fruits.
