MGMS MATHCOUNTS team wins third
LEXINGTON, S.C. — Students from Meadow Glen Middle competed strongly at the recent MATHCOUNTS
regional event.
MGMS finished third out of 12 teams at the Chapter Competition held February 4 at the University of South
Carolina.
Approximately 150 students from the Midlands participated, and MGMS Students Spencer Kevin Kiang,
Arnold Tianqi Jiang, Ellen Liyin Zhu, and Isaiah Pham placed in the top 17.
The top 16 students competed in a face-to-face, Jeopardy-style round of questions, and Kiang placed fourth
overall. He earned MGMS its highest placement at MATHCOUNTS since the school opened.
