Job Description
Job title: JRPC Squad Manager
Location: Junior Regional Performance Centre
Responsible to: ERHA
Responsible for: Supporting the coaches to ensure the smooth delivery of the programme and for
the welfare of the young people in their care.
Contractual status: Contracted as directed by the Organisation
Role summary




To assist in creating a performance environment and culture
To offer a positive role model for athletes and staff
To work with young athletes and be responsible for their welfare and protection
To ensure all relevant England Hockey policies are being implemented
Key responsibilities, main tasks and activities
In addition to the above, the Squad Manager will be responsible for:












all contact with the players once the initial invitation has been made by the administrator
maintaining a secure database of all players’ contact details (emergency contact information
and consent of their parent or person with legal responsibility, photography consent and
medical information should be included) as per template provided in the Single System Junior
Delivery Pack (section 4.20)
ensuring procedures are in place for dealing with serious injuries/accidents and that the First
Aid kit is fully stocked
working with the Centre Administrator and the England Hockey Development Officer to submit
centre numbers to England Hockey for club and coach funding purposes
dealing with logistics prior to, and on the day
the collection of any outstanding fees from the players
the welfare and behavior of the players at any development session, match or tournament,
this to include all time from arrival to departure
responding to any queries raised by parents
liaising with all coaches assigned to sessions to ensure they are aware of the venue and
times of the session
managing teams under competition conditions
making appropriate arrangements for travel to tournaments and/or matches
ensuring that players have the correct kit, and all kit used by their squad is accounted for and
returned to its storage place after use

ensuring that all who need to know about any competition are appropriately advised, that all
necessary forms are distributed and, where appropriate, collected on completion
ensuring that all fees collected are accounted for to the Treasurer
ensuring that any reports, specified paperwork, required squad lists and player profiles are
dealt with in a timely way within any specified deadline
attending any relevant meetings during a tournament as prescribed by the Tournament
Organiser
participating fully in the review of the JRPC
acting as a mentor to leaders and aspiring managers as requested by the Organisation
taking on other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as determined by the
Organisation.
Person specification
Qualifications:



Current First Aid Certificate (taken within the last three years)
Current ScUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate (taken within the last three
years)
A satisfactory enhanced CRB Disclosure processed by England Hockey (within the last three
years)
Experience and knowledge:




Experience of working with young players (U18s)
A sound understanding of good practice in relation to safeguarding children
Knowledge of emergency operating procedures
An understanding of the philosophy of the implementation of the Single System
Skills and abilities:







Ability to:
o work with young people
o work as part of a team
o monitor, reflect and report on the programme
o communicate, influence and inspire young players and staff
o prioritise the players’ needs
o manage and resolve conflict
Good verbal and written skills to liaise with young players and staff
