Smorgon district
Smorgon region was founded on January 15, 1940 as a part
of Vileyka region. In September
1944 it became a part of Molodechno region and on January
20, 1960 – Grodno region.
There are 324 rural settlements and 12 village councils of
deputies on the territory of the region. Train stations "Smorgon",
"Soly" and "Zalesie have a significant impact on the region's economic development. Every day 36
passenger and 50 freight trains
pass through the stations. The
population of the district is 55.1 thousand people. The total area is 1.5 sq. km.
Gross average monthly wages in Smorgon district in January-December 2010
amounted to 249.5 EUR, key-industries: manufacturing industry – 251 EUR, agriculture
– 197.3 EUR, construction – 365.8 EUR, transportation – 282.4 EUR, telecommunication – 314.5 EUR, housing and public utilities – 252.2 EUR, trade and catering – 220.7
EUR.
