The Medical Society scholarship application is due in guidance on March 14 which is Tuesday of next week. Monday, March 13, will be Grandparent’s Day. Any student that wishes to check out with their grandparent after the Grandparent’s Day celebration should begin bringing notes to checkout to Mrs. Robertson’s office no later than this Friday, March 10. Attention 11th and 12th grade students attending Prom - If you are planning to bring a student from another school to Prom, you must pick up a form from Mrs. Robertson’s office. These forms are due no later than Monday, April 17th Girls, please make sure you review the dress guidelines in the student handbook BEFORE purchasing your dress. Boys who are inviting a date from another school must convey the dress guidelines to their date. Seniors, check deadlines for scholarship applications. Many that require an essay will be due the first weeks in March. Seniors, the following scholarships are available: Seniors the Terrebonne Parish Rotary Club scholarship application is available in guidance. The Rotary’s motto is “Service before Self”. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA, acceptance to a 4 year or Technical/ Community College, and other personal qualities such as character, community service, leadership, financial need and academics will be considered. Completed application must be received in guidance no later than April 3, 2016. Attention senior males that plan on attending Nicholls State University in the Fall. The Gentleman Scholarship application is available in guidance. To qualify for the scholarship you must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above and be involved in your school and/or local community. The ideal candidate is one that is actively involved one or more of the following: academics, leadership, athletics, and philanthropy. Bayou Industrial Group is offering scholarships to seniors from Lafourche, Terrebonne, Assumption and St. Mary parishes for students enrolling in Nicholls, Fletcher, or SCLTC in the fall 2017. Attention seniors who are interested in attending LSU next Fall Spring Invitational (SPIN) will be Wednesday, March 29, through Friday, March 31, 2017. Invitations will be emailed to eligible students will be emailed the last week of January or during February following the February ACT test. BigSun Scholarships: Award amount is $500 given to one student who plans on attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport. Please visit the website http://www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply. Louisiana Farm Bureau Foundation scholarship. Applications are available in the guidance office. Qualifications are: be a member of the Farm Bureaus Federation, overall 2.5 GPA or better, pursue a degree in agriculture, vocational agriculture, agribusiness, agriscience or other curriculum directly benefitting the agricultural sector of the state’s economy. LSU Balanced Man Scholarship is available online at www.lsusigep.com Criteria for the scholarship is to be a male attending LSU in the Fall of 2017 and focus on achievement in four categories: Scholar, Leader, Athlete, and Gentleman. Belonging to the fraternity or any fraternity is not a factor. Deadline for applications are April 1, 2017. A flyer is available in guidance. Terrebonne Parish Medical Society scholarship application is available in guidance. The following criteria has been set: Financial need, Resident of Terrebonne, GPA of 3.0 or higher, ACT composite of 21 or higher. Being enrolled in a health related field is NOT required. Due date is Tuesday March 14, 2017 and needs to be turned into VCH guidance department. SLECA scholarship is now available for children of SLECA customers who are attending any Louisiana University, Community or Technical college. Qualifying students must reside in an area served by SLECA or have a parent who is a manger or owner of a business that is a SLECA member. The scholarship is $500 for the fall semester and another $500 for the spring semester of 2017-2018 school year. Seniors the Terrebonne Retired Teachers scholarship application is available in guidance. To be eligible, a senior must have a seven semester GPA of 3.0 or above. Completed applications must be returned to Mrs. Matherne no later than March 9, 2017. No exceptions.
