OCTY Elections

run for by May 5th (Elections are on May 7th at 1:00pm.)
● The election will include drop-downs, so you can apply to
multiple positions
● Prepare 2 minute speech for each position you apply for as
to why you’d be a great fit for that position and for OCTY

Time Commitment

Must attend OCTY events

Must contribute to planning of OCTY events

Approximately 1 hour per week, with a little more time needed the weeks leading up to an
event and little to no time needed the weeks following an event
Must attend occasional OCTY board meetings (no more than once or twice a
month, usually last around 30 minutes and usually have pizza!)

Events occur once every month or every other month
We may sometimes meet via video call (for example, the app Oovoo)
Most OCTY Board communications are via texting, so being able to respond
to texts quickly is awesome :)

Aware of all TYG affairs to properly relay information.
Informed of all program details.
Responsible for ensuring that work is done properly by other board
members, event chairs, etc.
A representative of the entire TYG.
Ultimately responsible for every project.
Liaison to the Youth Director, Youth Advisor, the synagogue and NFTY
Region.
Requirement: Must have been an OCTY participant for at least one year.

To promote and encourage the use of NFTY’s goals and values in TYG
programming
To serve as a programming resource to all TYG positions that are involved with
programming
To prepare programs (when asked) for weekend retreats, shul-ins, or other TYG
events
To be responsible for finding the appropriate space/location for programs (with
help from the president and TYG advisor
To type up programs in a program format sheet for all group leaders, TYG board
members, and adults involved in the program
Create program guide sheets for all group leaders or facilitators of the programs
and hand them out in advance of the scheduled event.
Social Action VP

Teach the three “A’s” of Social Action: Awareness, Advocacy and Action.
Keep our members aware.
Raise the social conscience of our group.
Keep issues relevant and information up-to-date.
Make sure issues are presented so everyone can relate.
Make sure all Social Action programs or Social Action drives run smoothly.

Send out flyers and posts which should be innovative and eye-pleasing

Talk about the TYG outside of events and other Temple activity—build

Organize phone call reach-out to potential event participants
