Belton Park GC (post code NG31 9SH), near Grantham, on Fri 24 Aug 12.
2.
Competition. The RAFGA Central Region ISSHQ is open to players with a handicap of 24.4 and
below and spaces will be limited to 18 teams (ie. 72 players1). The ISSHQ will be a 36-hole stableford
competition played concurrently; all teams will be automatically entered into both competitions.
3.
Eligibility and Entries. The RAFGA Central Region ISSHQ is open to teams from military bases
within the Central Region as indicated in the table below:
RAF Linton-on -Ouse
RAF Cranwell
RAF Waddington
RAF Marham
RAF Cottesmore
RAF Kirton-in-Lyndsey
RAF Scampton
RAF Digby
RAF Coningsby
Any other unit within the boundaries of the Central Region
Stations are invited to enter a team/teams of 4 players into the ISSHQ. Stations may enter multiple
teams though may have them balloted out if the field exceeds the maximum number. Teams must
consist of a minimum of 3 x RAF personnel; the 4th must be working on the station as RAF, RN,
Army personnel or MOD civilian; teams from non RAF units are welcome as long as they meet the
criteria as detailed above.
4.
Acceptance of Entries. Station OICs Golf are to submit their entries, together with requisite
payment, using the format at Annex A. The closing date for receipt of entries is Fri 10 Aug 12 and
entries received after this date will only be accepted if the event is undersubscribed. Should the
number of applying station teams exceed 18 (ie 72 players), then surplus teams will be balloted out as
follows:
a.
Stations with the highest number of entered teams will be asked to prioritise their entry and
the lowest priority will be removed.
1
Individuals with a handicap above 24.4 may enter on a fill-up basis but will be required to play off a handicap of 24.
1
b.
If the surplus entries cannot be separated using the method in sub-para 4a above,
acceptance of teams will be undertaken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
5.
Competition Rules and Qualification for the Finals. All play will be in accordance with the
R&A Rules of Golf. Decisions regarding the application of rules will be made by the Championship
Committee. Laser or GPS devices which measure distances only (ie. not gradient, temperature,
wind-speed etc) will be allowed. Specific rules for the Competition and Qualification process are as
follows:
a.
Scoring. All teams will be entered into both the Scratch and Handicap element of
qualification therefore, both the scratch and handicap stableford score is to be entered on
each individuals card. All 4 players score over 36 holes count towards the teams’ total.
b.
Handicap Allowance. For the handicap element of the competition there is a full
handicap allowance up to a maximum of 24; handicap certificates must be included in the
team’s entry.
c.
Ladies. Ladies are eligible to play in the competition and will play from the ladies tee.
d.
Qualification for the Scratch and Handicap Finals. The two teams with the highest
team total in each category will qualify for the Scratch and Handicap Finals respectively.
Please note that no one team can qualify for more than one final therefore, priority will be
given to a place in the Scratch Final with the vacated place in the Handicap Final being
awarded to the next team eligible in the Handicap format. In addition, stations may only be
represented by one team in the respective finals. Therefore, where upon a station may have
two teams that qualify for a final, the highest placed team will be awarded a place in the final
with the other place being allocated to the next team with the highest score. Details of the
finals2 are as follows:
(1) The Inter-Station Scratch Final (ISSF) to be held at Luffenham Heath GC on 27/28
Sep 12.
(2)
