Less availability
Comments • Dyes availability is quite tight
mainly for black and brown
• Effect pigments: no supply issues
• EHS issues continue at Indian
suppliers. Governmental restrictions
slow production and exports, esp. of
phthalos, e.g. PG7 supply.
• PV23 crude price has increased
by 50%. Shortage of Carbazole
expected to persist mid-term

Pigments Major technology trends
– Effect Pigments • New substrates / pigments
• New effects (higher chroma, higher lightness, color variable, sparkle, liquid metal, higher transparency)
• New surface treatments for use in waterborne systems
– Organic and inorganic pigments
•
•
•
•
Mature business ‐ usually no research on new chromophores
Improvement of existing chromophores
Mixed crystals of organic chromophores
Lead‐chromate replacement
