NAME __________________________________ DATE ______________________ MS. HOLZ PHOTOGRAPHY / PHOTO LAB INTERACTIVE CAMERA WORKSHEET Aperture Priority Mode (Av): allows the user to choose a specific aperture value while the camera selects a shutter speed to match, thereby ensuring proper exposure. Manual Mode (M): full manual control of aperture and shutter speed. (light meter*) ISO: the level of sensitivity of your camera to available light. (This is your film speed! This year we will be working with ISO 100 or ISO 400). The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera. Foreground: The part of a photograph that is closest to the viewer. Background: The part of the photograph furthest from the viewer. Depth of Field: the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. Large aperture = Small f-number = Shallow (small) depth of field Small aperture = Larger f-number = Deeper (larger) depth of field Light Meter: allows the photographer to determine which shutter speed and aperture/f-stop should be selected for optimum exposure Viewfinder: a device on a camera showing the field of view of the lens, used in framing and focusing the picture.
