President
 Serves on the Executive Committee
 Presides at board meetings and meetings of the Executive Committee
 Responsible for all JSC operations and coordinates the activities of various Board members
 Establishes administrative procedures to ensure Club policies are carried out
 Provides leadership and strategic vision for the Club
 Represents JSC at Club functions and within the community
 Attends monthly Greater Des Moines Junior Soccer League meetings if Recreation Program Director cannot
attend
 Time Commitment: Varies
Vice-President
 Serves on the Executive Committee
 Presides at board meetings and meetings of the Executive Committee in the President’s absence
 Provides management oversight of JSC and JUSC staff including employees and contractors
 Reviews monthly financial statements for accuracy and accountability
 Other duties as assigned

Immediate Past President
 Serves on the Executive Committee for two years following term as President
 Chairs the Disciplinary Committee

Secretary
 Serves on the Executive Committee
 Prepares and distributes meeting notices and agendas
 Records and distributes meeting minutes
 Other duties as assigned
 Time Commitment: 8-12 hours per month
Treasurer
 Serves on the Executive Committee
 Responsible for maintaining all financial records of the Club, including receipt and disbursement of funds
 Responsible for accurate and timely payroll of Club staff, including referees and other contractors
 Prepares monthly financial statements and analysis for review by the Board
 Oversees financial planning by coordinating the development of an annual budget and monitors budget status
throughout the year
 Maintains custody for all funds and securities
 Signs deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, and other financial instruments
 Prepares working papers for audits and provides assistance to auditors



Prepares and files required documents (i.e., tax returns, etc.) with appropriate regulatory agencies as required
by state and federal law

Recreational Program Director
 Serves as the Chairperson of the Recreation Program Steering Committee, when one exists, otherwise, leads and
facilitates improvements to the JSC Recreational program.
 Acts as liaison between the Board and parents and players within the Recreation Program
 Assists the JUSC professional staff with developing coaches in the Recreation program and answering questions
or concerns
 Sets JSC agenda for the Coaches’ Clinic and coordinates information for the coaches’ packets
 Oversees the coordination, distribution, and collection of player cards
 Works with the Director of Referees to organize the JSC pre-season scrimmages
 Represents the Recreational Program at soccer tournaments and encourages JSC teams to participate in soccer
tournaments
 Responds to escalated inquiries and/or issues between coaches, players, and parents, and determines
appropriate response and solution
 Attends monthly Greater Des Moines Junior Soccer League meetings
 Other duties as assigned
 Time Commitment: 5 – 8 hours per month
Director of Membership (U5-U6, U7-U8, U9-U10, U11+)
 Oversees registration planning and execution
 Assigns coaches and players to teams based on team formation policy
 Recruits qualified coaches to ensure a positive learning environment for all JSC players
 Recommends new policies or changes to existing policies when appropriate
 Serves as a liaison between JSC and parents and coaches
 Responds to escalated inquiries and/or issues between coaches, players, and parents and determines
appropriate response and solution
 Coordinates and facilitates Picture Day during the Fall season
 Other duties as assigned
 Time Commitment: 10 hours in June/July and January/February for registration and team formation; 2 - 5 hours
other months
Director of Communications
 Establishes and maintains positive relationships with JSC membership and the community
 Prepares or edits articles for the Club newsletter, periodically distributed via electronic means
 Communicates JSC’s mission, vision, strategic direction, and accomplishments to members and the community
at large
 Assesses and recommends the best method/tools for communicating various Club messages
 Coordinates with other Board members to produce advertisements and/or promotions
 Evaluates the effectiveness of communication tools used and recommends new communication channels when
appropriate
 Serves as liaison between the Board and the Web Master to ensure Club communications are effective and
timely



Director of Referees
 Possesses minimum of Grade 8 referee license and is a certified refer assignor (or will have scheduled
themselves for the required class)
 Oversees the scheduling of certified referees to home-field games and scrimmages
 Mentors referees and provides encouragement and opportunities for them to further their development
 Works with Recreational Program Director to organize JSC pre-season scrimmages to help introduce new
referees to the program
 Responds to escalated inquiries and/or issues between referees, coaches, players, or parents and determines
appropriate response and solution
 Recommends new policies or changes to existing policies when appropriate
 Ensures that refer payments are handles promptly and accurately with the Treasurer and all supporting
documentation is maintained
 Organizes a class for new referees before each season and a recertification clinic at calendar year-end
 Submits referee timecards and payment requests to the Treasurer duties as assigned
 Time Commitment: Varies, peak is at the start of the season
Assignor of Referees
 Responsible for scheduling certified referees to home-field games and scrimmages
 Other duties as assigned

Director of Scores
 Maintains accurate records regarding game scores and submits official scores to Greater Des Moines Junior
Soccer League weekly during season

 Time Commitment: 6 – 8 hours per month during season
Director of Volunteers
 Recruits and organizes volunteers to staff concession stands, tournament duties, field clean-up day(s), etc.
 Maintains records of volunteer duties and attendance
 Communicates volunteer assignments to membership via email and postcards
 Tracks and monitors attendance for assigned volunteer commitments
 Oversees receipt of payment of no show penalty of those who fail to complete their schedules volunteer
assignment
 Coordinates with Director of Operations the appropriate number of volunteers required for each volunteer shift

Director of Uniforms and Equipment
 Coordinates the selection and purchase of uniforms and related equipment each season
 Serves as liaison and fosters a strong relationship with vendors providing uniforms and equipment
 Coordinates the distribution and collection of equipment each season
 Maintains inventory of equipment



Director of Fundraising
 Identifies the need for fundraising efforts and recommends fundraising opportunities
 Serves as a liaison with fundraising vendors to ensure fundraising objectives are met
 Communicates with JSC members on the details of fundraising programs and the importance of fundraising
efforts and monitors progress and participation
 Encourages players and parents to participate in fundraising and recognizes and rewards top-performing
individuals and teams with an appropriate incentive structure

Director of Tournaments
 Serves as liaison with JUSC to assist in the organization of a competitive tournament during the Fall season
 Oversees all tournament activities, including scheduling, field preparation, promotions and communications,
staffing, trophies, etc.
 Should a Fall JSC Tournament become a viable fund-raising option, coordinates and organizes the tournament.
