QR codes and mini URL Elizabeth Ashley Why QR? Using QR codes: • Allows me to direct students quickly to specific websites for research tasks. • I have control over the quality, relevance and complexity of the content they are accessing. • Minimises issues with students with low reading/writing levels • Masks the source (sometimes beneficial) The problem: • QR codes can be difficult to scan from some of the projectors • Some students do not have devices with cameras on them The solution? Quickly double up! • Use a combination of QR and mini URL. The benefits of mini URL: • Much shorter so easier to type in (students are significantly less likely to make an error in the URL) • Minimises time spent getting to the website (therefore maximising learning time) • Allows ALL STUDENTS to access resources. So what does this look like, and how do you do it? Label the digestive system and identify the enzymes that work in it. • Include all the words in the key word bank on your page. • Include ‘equations’ showing the effect of different enzymes.
