Daniel J. Edelman & Ruth Edelman PRSSA Awards
for the Outstanding Public Relations Student and Achievement in
Women’s Leadership Development
Deadline: February 29, 2016
Purpose
The Daniel J. Edelman/PRSSA Award, named for the chairman and founder of Edelman, has been
presented annually since 1990 to PRSSA student members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership
ability, a commitment to a career in the field and have contributed substantially to PRSSA.
The Ruth Edelman/PRSSA award, named in memory of Deputy Chairman Ruth Edelman, will be awarded
in partnership with Edelman’s Global Women’s Executive Network (GWEN) to recognize student members
who have demonstrated achievement in women’s leadership, women’s studies and/or contributions in the
field to promote women’s issues.
Awards

$1,500 cash award for both the Daniel J. Edelman Award and Ruth Edelman Award ($500 upon
winning award and an additional $1,000 upon start date of internship)

3-month paid internship in one of Edelman’s U.S. offices for each award. (To be determined by
Edelman and winner)
Judging Criteria

Students competing for the Daniel J. Edelman Award must be a PRSSA member and will be
judged on their 1) leadership; 2) public relations-related achievements and activities; 3) digital
presence and 4) recommendations from faculty members and/or industry professionals.

Students competing for the Ruth Edelman Award must be a PRSSA member and will be judged on
their 1) leadership 2) demonstrated interest in women’s studies/issues 3) contributions in the field
or public relations as it relates to women’s issues 4) recommendations from faculty members
and/or industry professionals

Please attach no more than two letters of recommendation. Entries will not be considered without
at least one enclosed with entry. Sealed envelopes are suggested.

Include one resume and no more than 10 samples of individual public relations work. Submit this
application and supporting materials in a one-inch, three ring binder.
Process

Completed entries must be postmarked by Monday, February 29, 2016. Entries postmarked after
February 29th will not be considered. We recommend UPS or FedEx 2-day economy delivery as
Edelman is not responsible for lost or undelivered packages. Send entries to:

A panel of judges will evaluate entries. The winners will be notified by Friday, March 11, 2016. Applicants
can only win one of the two awards; one portfolio will be acceptable should you choose to apply for both.
