Responsible for:
Management responsibility for the financial, human and
programme resources attributed to the national School Games
programme, and the delivery of the local and national School
Games programme delivered across the borough of Rochdale
through two partner organisations.
5 days per week (36.25 hours), all year round.

Service:
1. The post holder will be required to work after school hours,
including weekend and evenings as a requirement of the job
demand.
2. The post holder must have the ability to travel independently
and will be reimbursed expenses for using their vehicle for
business use.
3. The school operates a No Smoking policy for all its employees.
Two separate part-time posts have been combined to create 1
full time which for the maternity cover will be through a Wardle
Academy contract.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST:
To manage and develop each organisation’s involvement in the national School Games programme to
enable to development of the programmes and competitive opportunities in line with local needs.
CONTROL OF RESOURCES:
Personnel
To be responsible for the direction, support and motivation of self and any staff under the post holder’s
control.
Financial
To work in accordance with Financial Regulations and procedures of the School / LEA and national funders.
Equipment/Materials
To be responsible for the safe use and maintenance of equipment/materials used by the post holder.
To adhere to the School rules and regulations relating to the use of ICT, e-mail and intranet/internet access.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. To support the Primary PE Co-ordinators to enable schools and children to be fully involved in the
national School Games programme.
2. To develop and deliver national and local initiatives and programmes relating to the School Games in
respect of workforce development, employment and deployment of appropriate staff or external
agencies, ensure equity and quality assurance, including Change4life and other initiatives.
3. To develop and implement local impact measurements and their actions in line with national outcomes
and local need.
4. To fulfil the requirements of the national data collection process and monitoring and evaluation of
funded projects and initiatives, on behalf of each organisation.
5. To effectively manage and monitor local and national funding allocations for the partnerships.
6. To seek to develop external partnerships, secondary school engagement and attract further resources
to sustain sport, competition and physical activity opportunities through the partnerships.
7. To work closely with related groups to embed high quality projects within schools and clubs across the
Borough.
8. To provide functional line management and organisation of staff.
9. To work strategically with the Local Organisation Committee (LOC) and Greater Sport, (L3 competition),
to increase appropriate competitive opportunities for young people to take part in and transition from
L1 to L2 to L3 where appropriate.
10. To work with partners to train and develop young leaders from KS2 to KS5, including their deployment
in suitable volunteering opportunities both in and out of school settings.

 Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
 Evidence of further professional development in relevant

 Full, valid, UK Driver’s Licence and a requirement to
successfully complete MIDAS training on appointment
 Relevant First Aid qualification or a commitment to obtain

 Experience of working with schools or in an education-based
environment
 Experience of working in a physical education, sport
development, or other sports-related field
 Experience of developing and the delivery of school sport
events, both on and off school sites, including health and

Hours Learning can be used for whole- school improvement

relation to PE and school sport and the National Curriculum
for PE, including in relation to SEND pupils
 Understanding of the AfPE guidance and knowledge of
