Dear Vermont NEA Member,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the immediate availability of
additional funding through our Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence at
the Stern Center for Language and Learning. A recent generous gift from
Cynthia K. Hoehl to the Institute’s Endowment will enable partial grant
opportunities for Stern Center customized professional learning to eligible
schools and educators.
This letter invites you to apply for school/district wide or individual
educator grants to extend professional learning initiatives in your school.
Some examples of recent school professional learning models being
implemented include: PreK through Grade 3 as a commitment to reading
by age 9; Common Assessment within an MTSS model; and Cognitive
models driving educational planning for the Common Core. Individual
opportunities include our Symposium series, Orton Gillingham for
Classroom Educators; Core Competencies in Social Emotional Learning;
Gearing up for Social Success: Strategies for School Based Social
Learning; Tests of Reading and Writing: are they worth the paper?
We welcome your creativity in brainstorming with us ways to advance your
professional learning goals. Please return the enclosed application to be
considered for this grant opportunity. Feel free to call or email Janna Osman,
M.Ed., Vice President of Programs, 802-878-2332, [email protected] if
you have any questions or would like further information.
Sincerely,
Blanche Podhajski, Ph.D.
