Spring Meeting: Thursday, March 23rd, 6:00 p.m. Hidden Haven Golf Club Banquet Hall Men’s Club Mission: To provide a fun, relaxing, competitive league for our golf club, that can cater to the enjoyment of all. The emphasis of the league is recreation, but provides positive encouragement for competitive spirit, with the rules of golf as a standard. Note to prospective members: Persons considering joining the Men’s Club should be able to meet the following criteria before considering joining for the 2017 season: Make a commitment to attend at least 75% of the scheduled events, both on Thursday nights and weekend Majors. Play by the rules of golf according to the USGA. Carry an honest handicap. Sandbaggers will be thrown out! NO EXCEPTIONS! Be willing to volunteer in Men’s Club activities. Be flexible to learning new events, meeting new people, and having fun. Registration: Registration is open to the public and will be on a first come, first serve basis. We have plenty of spots for new members; however, membership usually fills by the Spring Meeting. The cost for new members is $115, which is broken down into handicap registration, payout money, printing and postage costs, and the Year-End Banquet. Returning member dues are $105. Weekly Sign-up: Each week, the Golf Shop will have a sign-up sheet for the following week’s event. You must sign up in advance for the following week so administration can form teams, groups, and scorecards accordingly. If the following week is an individual event, you may select whom you want to play with but must still sign up in the Golf Shop. A lot of work goes into forming competitions for each week; your cooperation makes a big difference, so please sign up if you know you will be here. The deadline to call and register for a Thursday 5:30pm event is 9:00am sharp!! Weekend Major events must be paid for by the respective deadline, typically the Thursday prior. Tee times for these events will be made the Friday before the event. If you have an e-mail address on file, your tee time will be sent to you on Friday afternoon. You may also call the Golf Shop on Friday afternoon to get your tee time. If you do not pre-register for a Major, you cannot play. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Pairings & Scorecards: The pairings, starting assignments, and scorecards are prepared exclusively by the Golf Shop staff. Your understanding into the amount of effort put into this assignment is greatly appreciated. Formats: Every Thursday the Men’s Club will play a different event. About fifty percent of the events are individual and the other fifty some sort of team event. We start play with a 5:30pm shotgun start. Check-in is from 4:45 – 5:15pm. Please be checked in and ready to go by 5:15pm. We will also have a short meeting prior to play out front of the Golf Shop. Do not go out to your hole early, as you may miss a last minute change. Refer to the Men’s Club schedule for any changes in starting time (i.e. 5:00 p.m. start time in early May and September). The early event will start at 2:30pm. Depending on the number of players we will use a shotgun start or tee time format. We have plenty of room and encourage anyone to play at 2:30 if possible. This year’s schedule includes many of the same great formats as the past as well as some new and improved formats and events for 2017! Reminder: We will play regardless of the weather unless severe weather is threatening. Rain showers do not represent severe weather. Come prepared to play in inclement weather. Remember, with team events, if you decide not to play because conditions are not ideal, you ruin the team game for your entire foursome. Be considerate of your fellow members. Handicaps: It is mandatory for every Men’s Club member to understand the underlying basis for a golfer’s handicap. A USGA handicap is based on a mathematical average of your ten best of your most recent twenty scores posted in the computer. This means if you play to your handicap, you have played a better than average round. It is not normal to shoot below your handicap each time you tee it up. We can all help in keeping an honest handicap by following these guidelines: Download the GHIN app and post your individual scores each time you play. The golf shop will enter all your competitive men’s club rounds but it is your responsibility to enter all other scores. Enter every score that you shoot; good, bad, or indifferent. Even if it’s from a different course. (5) 18-hole scores must be posted to establish a handicap. Every member must have a handicap established to play in any men’s club events. Golf clubs banned by the USGA cannot be used for a handicap round and cannot be used in any men’s club or Hidden Haven Golf Club sanctioned events. All Men’s Club Major Scores will be posted by the Golf Shop and be labeled with a “T” for tournament score. Payouts: Every event purse is 100 % payback. Every dime received at entry is distributed solely for Men’s Club payouts. NEW for 2017!! Industry leading tournament management software will be implemented into as many events as possible. Many new and innovative features will be used to improve your tournament experience. Continued for 2017!! Real-Time Tournament Administration. Results for every event will be posted in the Golf shop, online, and included in an e-mail within 30 minutes of the conclusion of play. Results are considered final 15 minutes after the last scorecard is turned in. Scorecards must be turned in immediately following your round. Cards not returned within 15 minutes of conclusion of play will be considered NC (No Card). Results can be viewed on the bulletin board in the golf shop. Event results will eventually be viewable on our website as well. Continued for 2017!! Player’s Card: Your event credits can be spent the way you want them too. Your 1st Player’s Club card is free. Replacement cards are $5 each. Hidden Haven Golf Club is not responsible for lost or stolen cards or the remaining balance on them. Your event credits will be uploaded to your player’s card within 5 days of the event. Your Player’s Club credits are valid for purchases anywhere that we accept credit cards as a payment. There is NO expiration date of your player’s club card or its value. Charging privileges are not allowed. Your card is not able to carry a negative balance. The golf shop credit book will no longer exist. An itemized account statement can be provided upon your request. Continued for 2017!! Scholarship program: The scholarship budget for 2017 has been set at $1,500.00. The opening balance as of 1-1-17 is $4,947.83. The proceeds of all scholarship activities directly fund the scholarship program. Scholarship applications are always available in the golf shop. Continued for 2017!! SHOOTOUT Points System: Each Men’s Club event will have an associated number of SHOOTOUT points assigned to it. Each participating competitor with paid entry will receive credit for the associated SHOOTOUT points (regardless of finish) for that event. The top ten cumulative point earners will be invited to participate in the SHOOTOUT. This is a very fun event and is scheduled for Thursday, September 7th! Continued for 2017!! CLUB Championship Sponsorship Opportunity: I want all league participants to have the opportunity to support the Men’s Club by sponsoring the Club Championship. 100% of sponsorship dollars will fund the Championship purse. It is my goal to have several small sponsors and one title sponsor for the event. Possible rates include $25 for a sponsor and $250 for the title sponsor. Title sponsor will receive logo on all Championship material including our web site! It is possible for the 2017 Championship purse to exceed $4,000.00! For the enjoyment of everyone, follow these previously listed guidelines! Mark Hetland PGA Professional Hidden Haven Golf Club
