Upgrading to LED worklights
Selecting the best worklight for your application is crucial to ensure a safe and well-lit working
environment.
• Light output:
It’s obvious that power consumption will be an important factor, since the light output is mainly
determined by the power consumption. The bigger the machine/application, the higher the
power consumption will be.
When replacing regular lights:
• A 12 V 55 W halogen worklight will have a light output of about 1450 theoretical lumen
• A 24 V 70 W halogen worklight will have a light output of about 1750 theoretical lumen
• A 12/24 V 35 W HID worklight will have a light output of about 3200 theoretical lumen
• Beam pattern:
The beam pattern will mainly be determined by the application/type of machine:

CE marking
The EU low voltage directive does not require CE marking for regular lighting products with
voltages lower than 50 V AC/75 V DC:
• Strobe and rotating beacons do bear CE marking under the EU electromagnetic
compatibility directive.
• Explosion-proof lighting products do bear CE marking under the ATEX directive.
E-approval
Approval for use as lighting + light signalling devices on the public road in the countries of the EU,
as well as Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Japan, Malaysia,
Montenegro, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Serbia, South Africa,
Switzerland, Thailand, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine.
Marking in the lens: circle enclosing the letter E + a figure indicating the country issuing the
type-approval for the light and followed by the number of approval.
• Most lighting products for European forklift brands carry E-approval.
• Most lighting products for US or Japanese forklift brands do not carry E-approval.
