This is a piece of work completed over time. It is managed, researched and completed by yourself. Why do it? It is excellent independent learning. It develops good coursework skills. It helps prepare you for Diploma theory work? Universities and colleges like to discuss student interests outside classrooms. It helps you to complete your personal statement. It allows you to study a topic of interest to yourself over time. Who will give me help and support with this work? Parents, carers, friends and people you contact can all help you with your project. Your Form Tutor Mentor will also help give guidance and support. Can I work with friends or does it have to be on my own? For most students this will be an individual project. Exceptionally there may be good reasons for you to work together with another student. You will still need to keep a copy of your role and contributions to the topic. Does it all have to all be in writing? It should contain between 1000 and 5000 words but there may be good reasons for it being less or in a different format e.g. a video or a multi-media presentation. Is it compulsory? Yes for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. Optional for Year 11.
