Development of Swidnicka underpass area in Wroclaw
The basic idea of the proposed development is an attempt to clearly define the square - in the functional layer, which is the role
that will play in the environment and formal, that is, enclosure and shape.
Communications routes crossing all available means of communication and direct access to the attractive part of the city is the
biggest advantages of space. Observation of these positive themes existing state has become a very important factor in the
development of the site functions as a nucleus to the place we call MEETING PLACE on the ideals of "Wroclaw the meeting
place." Both in the literal sense, it denotes the place on the map of Wroclaw as a meeting place, which is to serve people
coming together with other people as well as a meeting place for people with culture (theater, cinema, art galleries, design,
architecture). Meeting place as a destination, but also as a starting point for further exploration of the most attractive parts of
the city with excellent connections both with the heart of the city - market, culture - opera, music forum, theaters, galleries,
cinemas, commercialism - Dominican shopping center, Renomashopping center, Arcadeshopping center, gastronomy - many
area clubs, cafes and restaurants - all within walking distance of the meeting place!
Currently the site is completely subordinated to the communication infrastructure. Border surrounding buildings are too diverse
and not dense enough to create an atmosphere of the square, where it is worth a stop for a purpose other than waiting for a
tram or bus. Our actions are an attempt to change the design of this situation by using the most economical means of
expression. Savings in expression is in our opinon the solution to organize the area, as well as provide space for a variety of
activities forms - design, artistic and social.

Due to the varied street frontage buildings at Kazimierza Wielkiego street (not designated the building line, a loose arrangement
of buildings), we decided to introduce two spatial elements , which organize existing space in the human level. These elements
of the spatial development are the two roofs of different spans, but of equal length positioned on both sides of the existing
Kazimierza Wielkiego street. Decorated in a similar style roofing on the two sides of the communication lines connects them,
and directly affect the atmosphere of the space created between them. The first roofing- the smaller, focused primarily bicycle
parking spaces, located along the bike path. In addition to parking places for bicycles also offers a temporary place to rest. The
second roofing- larger is the roofing of the existing terrace in front of the planned based WSK to be functionally related to the
activities WSK.
