Instruction for the treatment of waste Steel Construction

INSTRUCTION FOR THE TREATMENT OF WASTE STEEL CONSTRUCTION
AND PACKING MATERIALS
1.INTRODUCTION
Steel construction elements (SC) of various forms and sizes are welded and protected using a primer during production.
During on-site assembly, SC elements are assembled (screwed) into the building frame and protected again using a final
finish. The protective coating on the SC is approximately 80 microns thick. The elements of the steel construction include:
-pillars,
-beams,
-
facade substructure,
-stringers,
-
crane rails,
-
supports and platform supports,
-
fixed ladders, stairways, walking platforms, etc.

MANAGEMENT OF WASTE STEEL CONSTRUCTION AND PACKAGING
MATERIALS
2.1.
PROCESS OF SEPARATION AND SEPARATE COLLECTION
Waste from steel construction comes in various forms. Waste can be created in the form of SC trimmings, SC leftovers
or damaged SC (e.g. from unsuitable handling) during building disassembly. Leftovers need to be collected and removed
properly.
Basically, when using and handling SC, we follow the principle of the separate collection of each raw material at the site
where it is created. Materials are sorted and collected separately at the construction site. In traditional packaging systems, the following types of packaging materials are used (see Fig. 2):
-
wood for protecting SC elements during handling and narrow steel bands for binding,
-
steel bands for binding SC.
2.2. HANDING OVER SECONDARY RAW MATERIALS AND WASTE TO AUTHORISED
ORGANISATIONS
STEEL CONSTRUCTION
Steel constructions need to be handed over to organisations authorised for collecting secondary raw materials.
In accordance with the prescribed ecological procedures for re-melting various forms of steel waste, flue gases are treated using treatment plants. In this way, re-melting painted SC is also permitted.
PACKING MATERIALS
Packaging collected separately should be handed over as a secondary raw material:
-
Steel narrow band (for integrated) – remelting and reuse,
-
wood (cases for integration and screws) as fuel, or recycled by the cellulose industry,
2.3. COSTS OF WASTE SEPARATION, SORTING AND HANDING OVER TO THE AUTHORISED
ORGANISATIONS
By buying the product, the ordering party or the end user are responsible for its proper use and its sorting and handing
over to the authorised organisations. The same responsibility exists for product waste and packaging in accordance with
the regulations in the country of the ordering party or end user.
These guidelines are designed to help with waste management and conform to the directives on the management of waste
and waste packaging, applicable in EU.
