Section B: Appointed Board Positions Hockey Nova Scotia Appointed Board Positions Policy Appointed Board Positions: VP Finance and Administration Chair of Senior/Adult Rec Chair of Development Appointed in odd number years Chair Female Council Referee-in-Chief Chair at Large (Elite Hockey) Appointed in even number years Terms of Appointed Board Members: All Hockey Nova Scotia appointed Board positions are for a two year term. At the end of the two year term the serving Board member may reapply for their position. Solicitation of Appointed Board Members: When the term is up, all appointed Board positions will be advertised in the provincial paper and posted on the HNS website to solicit applications from within the hockey community. Applicants will be asked to provide a detailed hockey and administrative resume with references, along with anticipated outcomes while performing the specific Board role. To be considered for one of the positions the applicant must have a strong hockey background and served on the HNS Board, HNS Council, or the Executive of a Minor Hockey Association or League. *To be considered for the VP of Finance and Administration position you must be a Certified Accountant in good standing with general knowledge of the game of hockey, previous hockey administration experience would be considered an asset. Selection of Appointed Board Members: The elected members of the HNS Board (President, VP Hockey Operations, Past President, Chair of Junior Council and Chair of Minor Council) will select the successful candidate to fill the specific Board appointment. As per By-Law 8.03 the appointments made by the elected members shall be ratified by the membership at either the Annual or Semi Annual General Meeting of HNS. Timing of Appointments: Applications will be solicited starting May 1st of the year the appointed ends, with a deadline to apply of May 20th, with the appointments to be made in early June.
