NOTICE TO RESIDENTS ON STREETS TO BE REPAIRED AS PART OF
THE GREEN TOWNSHIP STREET REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Your street is one of fourteen scheduled to be repaired as part of the 2014 Green
Township Street Rehabilitation Program. This program takes place in several phases that
will begin on or around August 4th, 2014 and should be completed some time in
November, weather permitting.Work will begin on your street in the next week or so.
As is to be expected with any major construction project, inconveniences will surely have to be
dealt with. Green Township and its contractors will work to ensure that these are kept to a
minimum. Cooperation between residents, their neighbors, and our contractors will help in
minimizing inconveniences and expediting the construction process.
CONTRUCTION SCHEDULE: There can be as many as eight phases to the construction process
depending on whether your street has curb on it or not, or if your street is constructed of
asphalt or concrete.
Phase 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
Phase 4
Phase 5
Phase 6
Phase 7
Phase 8
Repair of concrete curb (if applicable)
Removal of existing asphalt pavement surface (if applicable)
Pavement repairs, including full depth base repairs and crack and sealing
of concrete pavements
Installation of leveling course of asphalt
Utility adjustments such as the raising of manholes
Installation of surface (final) course of asphalt
Sealing of asphalt edges along curb & gutter
Completion of all items on project punch list
The time between the completion of any one phase and the start up of another can vary from
three to five weeks. This is due to the fact that the contractor is working on thirteen other
streets in addition to yours.
RIGHT-OF-WAY: Green Township and its contractors and/or sub-contractors are not responsible
for items damaged during the course of construction that are located within the public right-ofway such as invisible dog fences, lawn sprinklers, trees and other plantings. The public right-ofway generally extends 12’ from the back of curb or edge of road. This area includes the grass
strip between the street and sidewalk and the sidewalk itself.

TRAFFIC: One lane of traffic will be maintained throughout construction. While construction
operations are in progress traffic may be limited to one-way to ensure the safety of motorists
and work crews. Please observe any detours posted and plan your trips accordingly. There may
be instances throughout the day where the need arises to block the street for short periods of
time. These instances will be limited and kept to a maximum of ten minutes.
PARKING: On street parking will be severely limited during those times when crews are actively
working on a street. Please comply with no parking signs as they are posted. Those who can
park in driveways are asked to do so as to keep on-street parking spaces open for those who lose
access to their driveways during curb repair work and construction crews and equipment.
CONSTRUCTION HOURS:
Construction activity can generally be expected to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
weekdays. When paving is taking place crews may work until dark. Weather could dictate that
work takes place on Saturdays, but we generally refrain from scheduling weekend work crews.
In closing, I wish to reiterate the point that Green Township and its contractors will make every
effort to keep inconveniences to a minimum. If you should have any questions please contact
the Department of Public Services at 574-8832, weekdays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and
3:30 p.m.
Sincerely,
Butch Nanney
Assistant Director of Public Services
