2017-2018
Being prepared is a trait of successful individuals. We want all Welsh Valley Middle School students to achieve success both inside and
outside of the school. This supply list represents the essential supplies that a sixth grade student will need for the 2017-2018 school
year. Throughout the year, some items will need to be replenished and additional materials may be needed to accommodate special

Welsh Valley Assignment Book (available for $15 through the HSA on the first day of school)
A self-selected novel for Sustained Silent Reading (SSR)
USB flash drive (4 GB suggested)
Ear buds
Scientific calculator (Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS or similar)
2 different-colored 1-1/2” binders (good quality to last entire year)
2 packs of plastic dividers with pockets
1 soft pencil pouch to carry separately or 2 soft pencil pouches (one for each binder)
Notebook filler paper (100 sheets/wide-ruled)
2 dozen #2 wooden pencils (will need to be replenished throughout the year)
1 pack colored pencils
blue/black pens
3 red pens
2 highlighters
2 black Fine Point Sharpies
2 black Ultra Fine Point Sharpies
2 large soft erasers (such as Magic Rub)
1 large glue stick
9 x 12” spiral-bound sketch book (for art)
1 pack 3” x 5” index cards (for Spanish)
1 box of tissues for your homeroom teacher
One 3-ring binder (1½” or 2” binder)

On PE days students should be prepared with their sneakers, sweat pants or appropriate
length shorts, short or long sleeve t-shirt (no tank tops)
Twelve # 2 wooden pencils (to be replaced as needed)
One large soft eraser (such as Magic Rub)
One Black Fine point Permanent Marker (such as a Sharpie)
One Black Extra/Ultra Fine point Permanent Marker (such as a Sharpie)
9 x12 Spiral sketchbook (no tape bound)
One set of ear buds (to be kept in class)
Flash Drive
Ziploc Sandwich Bag
If you are scheduled for reading support please bring the following to class:
o 2 marble notebook
o Two pack (100 count) 3” x 5” index cards
We highly recommend writing your child’s name on their supplies on items such as their assignment book,
USB flash drive, calculator, binders, and pencil pouch among others.
Please note that if your child has a class not listed above (i.e. math support, challenge, etc.) they may
be asked to provide additional supplies. This will be communicated to students during the first week of school.
