Quantitative Positive Control for Membrane Filtration
1. Remove vial containing BioBall® from freezer
2. Remove stopper of BioBall vial
3. Tip BioBall into sterile water sample. Seal sample.
4. Shake sealed sample for 30 seconds
5. Pour sample through membrane filter
6. Perform remaining QC test steps according to standard laboratory operating procedure.
Media QC
1. Place membrane on filter aparatus without funnel or vacuum
2. Add 1mL of sterile water or saline to centre of membrane
3. Remove BioBall vial from freezer
4. Remove stopper from the BioBall vial
5. Slowly tip BioBall onto the centre of the membrane
6. Allow 30 seconds to dissolve
7. Apply vacuum to remove water/saline
8. Turn off vacuum and transfer membrane to media
9. Incubate and count colonies
10. Calculate % recovery
