Attachment
This week you will be:
• Testing the basic model and making any minor
modifications you need
• Finalising the attachment design your team chose
last week
• Starting to build your attachment
Testing
• Testing is very important as it ensures the product is fully functional
before it leaves the factory
• Your tests should replicate how the product is used by the customer
• In your case, you should hang weight off the end of the boom arm and
see if the arm can be raised by the syringes
• This is a good test as it is what will be done during the final!
• Testing is an ongoing process – You should keep testing and improving
your model from now until the final
Testing
Whilst testing your model, try to answer these questions:
• Does the inner boom extend and retract without too
much friction?
• Does the model look stable enough to withstand the
load on the end of the boom?
• Does the electrical connection work properly?
• Do your syringes move smoothly and at the same
speed?
Make modifications to your model to fix any problems you
find.
