Gas Application- Completion Guide
Thank you for your enquiry!
In order for us to be able to process your application all the information requested on this form
must be given. We understand that some of the questions asked maybe questions which you are
not asked everyday. Baring that in mind, this guide will explain what information we need and
advise on where you can find this information. Please use this guide to fully complete your
application form so that when it is returned to us it can be processed quickly and successfully.
Step 1- The type of work of which you require
Before you commence completing your form it is a good idea to know what work you are
applying for. Provided below is a brief description of works of which can be carried out:
New Service & Meter- New gas pipe work & meter is to be installed
Meter Only- New meter to be installed on a new/existing pipe
Upgrade/Increase – Increase the Gas load of the Meter and/or pipe work
Diversion- Move the existing meter/ service pipe
Increase & Diversion- Mover the existing meter/ service pipe and increase the gas load
Disconnection- When the customer requires a gas meter / service to be disconnected. (Note: A
different form will need to be completed for this work to be carried out)
Capacity & Pressure Check – A detailed check of an existing supply pipe, allows confirmation of
the amount of gas your pipe can cope with.
Step 2- Completing the Application form
For us to be able to process your application successfully all sections of the form must be
completed. To make this easier for you the customer we have provided below a section by
section guide as to the information needed for each section.
Section A
1) Your Details- full contact details of the person who is making the application are needed here.
Contact details such as address, telephone & Fax number and email if available. (Email address
is strongly recommended as it allows for faster correspondence between us and you the
customer.
2) Site address- Here we need the address and contact details of site where the work is to be
carried out.
Section B
1) Contract Details- Here we require the name and the contact details of the person/company of
who will be paying the bill for the supply of gas and not the installation.
Please make sure that all information provided is clearly given so that errors are avoided.
Section C
In section C we need you (customer) to clear description of the work which is required. Clarity is
of the utmost importance. For guidance on which work you may require please refer to the top of
this guide and to the break down/ description of the type of work of which can be done.
If you are unsure of the work of which you need please contact a corgi registered engineer who
will be able to advise you.
Section D
1) Load Details
Section D requires the customer to provide their gas load details. We require the customer to
provide the following:
Existing Load: The load details of the current meter. (If there is no meter already there then there
are no existing load details.)
Additional/New: Here the customer needs to inform of the additional/new loads they require.
Total Load: This is the existing load + the additional load.
EXAMPLE:
Existing + Additional= Total Load
150 kwh + 50kwh= 200Kwh
This information can be found by locating a data badge on your appliance(s) which will
give it’s gas input/output rating. Alternatively, refer to the appliance manufacturer or
your Corgi Registered Gas Installer who will be connecting your meter to the outlet.
If you have requested an upgrade to your supply we will require both the existing and
new loads.
However if you have requested a new meter only we will need the New/Additional
Loads + Total Loads.
2) Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN)
A Meter point reference is a deceptive title as the number is not attached to your meter
but to your supply pipes. This number is needed so that we know which pipe to attach
the meter to.
As your service pipes are under ground the easiest way for you to obtain this number is
to call the MPRN hotline on:
0870 608 1524
Please note if you are applying for a meter and service pipes to be installed then you
do not have a MPRN.
3) Supply Pressure
We cannot determine the answer to this question. If you are unsure of the supply
pressure you require please contact a corgi registered engineer who will be able to
advise.
The remaining questions are based on the site meaning they are questions of which
you the customer can only provide the answer.
Section E – Health and Safety
Please answer these questions truthfully as they are asked to make sure that everyone
on site is kept safe.
The Q1 and Q3 are base on the site itself meaning they are questions of which the
customer can only provide the answer.
For question 2: Does the project fall within CDM Regulation? We have provided some
guidance.
CDM Regulations applies to all demolition and dismantling work. They also apply to
other construction work UNLESS:
a) The work will last 30 days or less
b) Involves less than 500 people on the site at any one time.
Section F – Site Details
Section F allows us to get on overall idea of the site. Therefore all questions here are
essential and need to be fully completed.

What Best describes the location of the site?
Greenfield- Virgin land which has never been built on
Redevelopment- Old buildings being knocked down and a new is to be built.
Existing site- The original building is still there but is being renovated or just requires a
new supply or work to be done on an existing supply.

What supply type do you require?
Firm: A firm supply is secure and can be used at all times
Interruptible: The supply can be interrupted and the customer will be asked to switch to
an alternative fuel.

What is the profile of your require load?
Constant supply- the same level of consumption is used continuously (normally Large
industrial Use)
On/Off- Temperature reaches a thermostatic level and cuts off completely. When the
heat drops the boiler comes back on and the cycle starts again.
Modulating- The gas is on all the time but the level of consumption rises and falls
depending on the appliances being used. (Small industries).
Your Meter Serial number is
found on your meter.

Theses questions can
only be answered by you
the customer. No
guidance can be given
on where to locate the
information as it is
dependant on each site.
Please answer all.
Do you require the consumption for the new meter to be added to the bill for
the existing meter located within the same building?
This is dependant on what the customer requires. Customer needs to tick yes or no.

Will you be fitting a gas booster or compressor downstream of the meter?
This question is site dependant and will vary with each customer. Therefore there is
no set answer for us to give.
It is important to note that E.ON energy does not carry out the work required to
install either of the above. This is something which the customer has organised
themselves.
If the customer has arranged for this work to take place we do need all the details
of the work to be sent to us along with this application form. If this information is
not sent it will be requested and can hold up your application being processed.

Do you require a meter by-pass?
A meter by- pass is usually required in building where it is imperative that there is a
constant supply of gas (for example: A hospital).

Do you require a twin stream governor?
A twin stream involves two lines of identical equipment set to operate individually
when one line fails. Its aim again is to keep a constant supply of gas going in an
industry where it is essential.

Do you require a volt free interface to be installed as part of the quotation?
A volt free interface is an energy management system. It allows the customer to be
able to view their gas usage prior to receiving their monthly bill. There is additional
cost for this system to be installed.

Do you require E.ON to quote for an external meter kiosk/ and or meter kiosk
base?
Here the customer has the option of building his own kiosk or requesting E.ON to
quote for and supply the kiosk and construct the base it stands on.

Will you be excavating and backfilling trenches within your site boundary?
Here the customer has the choice of doing his own excavation within his site
boundary or requesting E.ON to quote for this work.

Do you require E.ON to provide easement assistance? (This is permission to lay
the pipe on land not owned by you or the local authority.)
E.ON can provide easement assistance at a cost to the customer or he can arrange
this himself.

Do you require a quotation for budget purposes only?
E.ON can provide you with a budget quotation however this quotation cannot be
accepted it is just for budget purposes.
Section G- Site Diagram
In order for works to be carried out we do require a site Map (OS map) with the
meter position marked on via an X. If this cannot be obtained then a sketch/
detailed diagram of the site of which must include all meter positions marked on
and at least 2 roads marked on.
Please be aware that is a site map (OS map) cannot be provided this may delay your
quotation.
If you do opt to give a detailed diagram we may send out to you a map for you to
highlight your site and mark the meter position. We will do this in cases where there
is uncertainty with regards to the meter and site position.
If there is construction / Demolition work taking place or if the foot print of the
building is changing in any way we will need an architectural map to be sent in to us
with the application form.
If you are unsure with regards to the site map please contact us so we can advise
prior to sending your application form in.
Section H-Signature
The Application form sent to us does have to be signed and dated.
