electric generating capacity in 2015
 Cumulative PV installed in 2010 was 2
GW; in 2015, it was 25GW (!)
 Community Solar is relatively new

2014, CS was 66 of 6,201 MW installed
 Largely dominated by developers who
manage projects and retain control/profits
SOLAR OWNERSHIP OPTIONS:

Individuals and businesses can buy or lease

Community solar owned by developers and utilities




Most rely on group net metering
Non-profit using charitable fundraising
Community Group Net Metered with shared ownership and
shared electricity
Community Supported Solar: Group forms a company to own
the PV and sell electricity and eventually the system to a host
COMMUNITY SUPPORTED SOLAR IS:
A locally owned & controlled solar electric (PV)
system with multiple participants

 An option with lower up front cost per person
 A hedge against rising energy costs
