Pilot Assessment Pilot Assessment Course Description • Situation: An airline customer needs an assessment by Lufthansa Aviation Training of preselected licensed pilots (on staff or not on staff) in terms of their suitability for a certain function in the cockpit. (Requests from private individuals cannot be processed.) • Depending on the function in the cockpit, three product types are offered: - Type 1: Pilot assessment for new hires (for F/O, PIC) - Type 2: Pilot assessment for command upgrades (for F/O) - Type 3: Pilot assessment for new trainers (for F/O, PIC) • The pilot assessment is carried out in one day at a Lufthansa Aviation Training Center and is conducted by a licensed instructor of Lufthansa Aviation Training. • The pilot assessment is usually comprised of three modules: - Personal impression - Theoretical test - Practical test in the full-flight simulator • The specific structure of the assessment depends on the product type and on the experience of the candidates, and it can be adapted to the customer’s individual needs. Module: Practical test in the FFS Training Topics Module 1: Personal impression • The candidates are examined regarding their personal attitude and motivation for the respective function in the cockpit. Module 2: Theoretical test • The candidates are examined to determine their general aviation knowledge and specific knowledge in line with their type rating (paper and pencil test). Module 3: Practical test in the full-flight simulator (FFS) • The candidates are tested in terms of their practical skills in a full-flight simulator in line with their type rating (valid or expired). • The FFS test lasts at least one hour for each candidate. • The FFS test starts with a one-hour briefing and a detailed follow-up briefing by the instructor. Prerequisites • Sufficient knowledge of verbal and written English (ICAO level 4 or higher) • Valid CPL with successful completion of the ATPL theoretical test or a valid ATPL • Valid multiengine IFR rating • Valid or expired type rating • Valid medical certificate of fitness, class 1 Training Documents • Before the pilot assessment, the candidate receives a pre-briefing package with all of the necessary information to prepare for the assessment. • Following the assessment, the airline customer receives a comprehensive summary of the results of the modules tested for each candidate and a recommendation by Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT).
