This investment helped creating 16 high qualified jobs in the Netherlads during the last year. The project first main objective was to design, fabricate and install a demonstration unit for public performance verification. The unit was designed during six months and afterwards tested off site. It was finally placed in April 2016 in the field of a logistics company in the North of the Netherlands. PowerNEST is an innovative wind and solar combinedpower system that is most efficient, answers customers needs in terms of looks and architectural integration, and is esecially designed for buildings of 5 levels and higher. The demonstrator was placed on top of a set of 3 (wide) by 3 (height) 40ft containers to simulate the effects of a building’s façade. Being recognized by the European Union gives us great credibility with partners and early adopting customers. I am very grateful for the European support. As a team we feel empowered by them to make PowerNEST possible for the many high rises in Europe which are in need of an effective and attractive renewable energy solution, and contribute in the emerging urban energy transition of the European community. The opening event to present the very first PowerNEST to the public will take place at the end of June 2016. Several public, industry and media stakeholders will also participate. Installing more PowerNEST’s and perfomance validation for optimization and knowhow development are the main activities for the coming months at IBIS. One of the largest banks in the Netherlands, Rabobank, has committed to buy a PowerNEST in the coming three years. The unit will be placed in one of their high rise buildings. Moreover, Rabobank has provided bridge financing for the successful development of the IRWES European project. Ibis Power proves that a disruptive and innovative scientific approach for new applications of smart wind energy solutions can really make the difference. Even though the profitable large scale application of small scale wind energy in the built environment still needs to be proved, we, at Rabobank, feel that Ibis Power is very well positioned to play a leading and successful role in this transition towards local renewable energy generation. That is why Ibis Power won Rabobank’s Herman Wijffels Innovation Award in 2014, why we have bridge financed their EU subsidy and why we intend to partner with them in the coming years, including the quest to find suitable roofs to scale up the business in close cooperation with our business partners in the bottom up local renewable energy solutions movement like Nudge. Bas Rüter, Rabobank Head of Sustainability Next new clients The City of Copenhagen has adopted a series of ambitious plans, among other things on CO2 neutrality in 2025, Climate Change Adaptation of the City, Green Mobility, Waste as a Resource and Green Urban Nature. Against this backdrop, the City of Copenhagen and IBIS Power signed in April 2016 a Partnership Agreement to establish a framework for cooperation. IBIS Power will provide its architecturally integrated wind and solar rooftop system solution, PowerNEST, for te city of Copenhagen. Woonbedrijf (Social Housing Association headquartered in Eindhoven), owns a large stock of 50s-70s buildings in the Eindhoven region. Several rounds of technical and financial discussions are taking place since April 2015 to identify potential buildings to place PowerNEST’s. In February 2016, Woonbedrijf and IBIS Power signed together a Letter of Intent for the placement of a first PowerNEST during the second half of 2016 as part of a set of three instalations.
