HOW TO MAKE YOUR ENTRY
1. HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW ENTRIES - As a requirement of our affiliation to Horse of the Year Show,
entries to these classes MUST be made on a separate entry form or via our online facility. Forms must be
completed fully or they will be returned to you.
2. Online - Entries and payments can now be processed online. Please visit the website at
www.cheshirecountyshow.org.uk.
3. Mandatory Payment towards Medical Cover In line with other shows each exhibitor must pay a £3
contribution towards medical cover.
4. One Entry Form to be completed per OWNER please. Additional forms are available on our website at
www.cheshirecountyshow.org.uk or by telephoning 01565 650200, alternatively they can be photocopied if
necessary.
5. Please provide as much information as possible. Write clearly in block capitals. If society registration
numbers are requested to comply with class requirements, then they MUST be listed.
6. Before returning your entries ensure you retain a copy for your records.
7. Entry Fees will be accepted by cheque and credit card in £ Sterling only. Post-dated cheques will be
returned. Please do not send cash through the post. ENTRIES WILL BE VOID AND RETURNED IF ANY
CHEQUES ARE DISHONOURED.

PRIZE MONEY
Prize vouchers will be issued with rosettes in the ring and prize money can be collected from the ICE PLC cash
point located by the main ring on Show days.
Alternatively prize vouchers can be sent to the Show Office before 31 July. Prize vouchers received after
this date will not be paid out. Prize money will not automatically be issued without a prize card voucher
being sent to the Show Office.
Other additional payments will be issued by the Show Office within 8 weeks of the Show.
Cheques not banked by end of September will be invalid and the Society will donate the value of the cheque to
a charity of their choice.

Is entirely dependent on the number of horses entered and not the number of entries made and they will be

The following class is a qualifier for the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship, NEC
Birmingham, 7th-11th October 2015. The objective of the competition is to find the
supreme light horse or pony in-hand champion of the year, irrespective of breed or type
(excluding heavy horses). The Champion horse or pony from the following classes will be
eligible to compete, provided it has not already won a qualifying round in 2015.

These classes are for young athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their
sphere and for Brood Mares capable of producing the aforementioned.
Each horse is judged individually on a triangle (except for foals) and walked round the ring as a class.
Marks are awarded for conformation, walk, trot and type and temperament.
A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed SHB(GB) registered horse in each class.
The Leader who enters the ring with the horse must remain throughout the class.
Any exhibitor in charge of an entire must ensure they are in complete control at all times and if not, will be
dismissed from the ring.
All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book.
The Society discourages the showing of over-fat horses and judges will take this into consideration when making
their awards.
Manners will be taken into account in In Hand Sport Horse Classes.
This Show is a qualifier for the 2015 “THE KELLYTHORPE STUD” SUPREME IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP, the final
to be held at the North of England In Hand & Mountain & Moorland Championship Show on 12 July 2015.
Kindly sponsored by The Leeman Family. Prize money at the final will be 1st - £1000, 2nd - £400, 3rd - £100, 4th
£50, 5th - £25, 6th - £25, 7th - £25, 8th £25. Sashes to the Champion and Reserve. Rosettes to all other prize
winners and finalists. The Sport Horse Breeding Champion will qualify. If the Champion has already qualified, the
Reserve will go forward. Only the Champion or Reserve will qualify. Exhibitors who qualify for the final will be sent

IDHS (GB) - Special Incentive Cards The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards
to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse, in the following Classes 1-5. To be
eligible exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on their Irish Draught Breed Registers or
Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form.

pregnancy for the following year that may be inspected at the Show.

SPORT HORSE FOAL entered with its Dam in the above class. All foals to be at least 3 weeks old on
the day of the Show.

BROOD MARE PREMIUM
SPORT HORSE BREEDING OF GREAT BRITAIN The Premium will only be awarded if there are a minimum of
three mares forward per class. The premium will take the form of a Service Voucher (value to be determined by
SHB(GB)) awarded at the Judge’s discretion to their selection from the monetary prize winners and to be used
towards the cost of covering the mare by any SHB(GB) Graded Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion that is
properly registered for the year of covering. The Service Voucher may be used in either of the two years following that
award. The owner must be or become a fully paid up member of SHB(GB) in order to be eligible for the award. No
mare shall take more than one award per year.

THE NORTH WEST BRANCH OF SHB(GB) are pleased to offer a £50 Premium and Rosette to the 1st or 2nd
placed Brood Mare with own foal at foot, which has not already won a SHB(GB) (in the North West) Premium, during
the current season.
SHB(GB) (IN THE NORTH WEST) - IN-HAND POINTS COMPETITION Sport Horse Breeding Classes at the Show
are included in the SHB(GB) in the North West Points Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st - 4th places in each
class. Horses must be registered with SHB and the owner must be a current SHB member at the time of the show to
qualify for entry into the Points Competition. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of
points overall.
RIDDEN HUNTERS
HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, NEC BIRMINGHAM 7th-11th October 2015 Held under the rules of the British
Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must
be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry
form. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the Registration Numbers.
Classes 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show 2015. These classes will be run in accordance
with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from
www.hoys.co.uk.
In the TopSpec Lightweight Show Hunter, TopSpec Middleweight Show Hunter, TopSpec Heavyweight Show Hunter
and Small Show Hunter Classes, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first three will qualify to enter at the
Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than third will qualify. Entries in the three weight classes are not eligible to
enter the Small Hunter Class. Only horses registered with the BSHA are eligible to enter. Registration Numbers must
be quoted on entry forms.
In the Ladies Side Saddle Class, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first five will qualify to enter at the Horse
of the Year Show, no horse lower than fifth will qualify.
In the Cuddy Working Hunter Class, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first three will qualify to enter at
Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than third will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year
Show office.
SHB(GB) Class Rules All other Hunter Classes, EXCLUDING HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIERS will be
judged under Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Rules. The following regulations relate to SHB (GB) classes.

REGISTRATION SCHEME FOR QUALIFYING SHOWS (HORSE NEEDS TO BE ON SHB(GB) BASIC IDENTITY
RECORD). SHB(GB) offer a temporary Sport Horse registration (£20 per show) which allows an exhibitor to compete
at TWO qualify shows per season. If the horse subsequently qualifies then they will need to complete their full
registration before the Championship, a £20 registration will be refunded (01732 866277 for details)
THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS APPLY:
1 ANYONE on a horse at an affiliated show must wear a hard hat.
2 Competitors must wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European
Standard at all times. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover.
3 The Organisers of this Show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone
present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent
accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers, all Officials and Stewards.
4. PLEASE ENSURE THAT FULL BREEDING DETAILS ARE LISTED ON THE ENTRY FORM.
Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain requires all exhibits in the Hunter Classes to be registered on their
basic identity record or stud book. Animals must be on the Showground by 8.00 am in readiness for judging
commencing at 8.30 am. All Hunter Classes will be judged under the Society’s Rules.
SHB(GB) (IN THE NORTH WEST) - RIDDEN POINTS COMPETITION The following Classes at the Show : Working
Hunter, Ridden Sports Horse, Ridden Hunter, are included in the SHB(GB) in the North West Ridden Points
Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st - 4th places in each class. Horses must be registered with SHB to qualify.
Horses can compete in any of the above classes. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of
points overall.
ALEXANDERS HORSE BOXES SUPREME HUNTER SHOW Classes 6 - 11 are qualifiers for the above show to be
held on 22 & 23 August 2015 at the Scope Festival, Staffordshire. The three highest placed horses in the Lightweight,
Middleweight, Heavyweight and Small Classes will qualify to enter at the Alexanders Horse Boxes Supreme Hunter
Show. No horse lower than third will qualify.
THE ‘KELLYTHORPE MOULIN ROUGE’ SUPREME RIDDEN SHOW HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP This show is a
qualifier for the ‘KELLYTHORPES MOULIN ROUGE’ SUPREME RIDDEN SHOW HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP. The
final to be held at the NORTH OF ENGLAND SUMMER HORSE SHOW, on 4 July 2015. Kindly sponsored by Lisha

IDHS (GB) - Special Incentive Cards The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards
to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in the following Classes 6-11. To be
eligible exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership on either their
Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry
form.
Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge This show is a qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society
(GB) £2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following Classes 6-11, that
is registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, ie with a
minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught Breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000
Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify but must be on the
IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 12
& 13 September 2015 at the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln, LN2 2NA. NB: A horse may only
qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each
qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form
at www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. Following submission of
the online form, a qualifier’s pack will be sent out direct to the qualifier. In the Final, the Champion will be
awarded £1,000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to
7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. In addition the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a
trophy and £100 and the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and £50 and the highest

Classes 14 & 15 to be held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the
Association and all Owners. Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or
older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. No entry form will be accepted unless accompanied
by the Registration Numbers.
A Mare, Gelding or Stallion 4 years old or over (competing stallions must have a red, white or blue ribbon displayed
in their tail).
For Horses exceeding 148cms (14.2hh approx) to be judged in accordance with the rules herein set out. Grade A
Show Jumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in these classes. Any horse which has
qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event horse as at 1 January in the current year is not eligible to
compete in Working Hunter Classes. The maximum total points available is 100. This is made up of Jumping points =
Max 40 points, Style & Presence while Jumping = Max 20 points, Ride = Max 20 points, Conformation = Max 20
points. In the event of equality, the conformation mark from phase 2 will take precedence, followed by the ride mark
and ten the style mark. Fences to be minimum of 8 in number and a maximum of 12. Maximum height of 1.14m (3ft
9ins) at the discretion of the Judges. Fences should have a natural appearance and not be easily dislodged. No unnumbered obstacle can be included in the course.
The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden
under side saddle, in which case, in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase
only). A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into
the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider allowed). A skull cap or hat and safety harness
according to the current approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase
of Working Hunter classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. No hind boots or bandages of any
description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. On completion of the jumping phase ALL
CLEAR ROUNDS and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse
positively stops, ceases to go forwards at any time during its jumping round, or turns its quarters to a fence, or has a
complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps an incorrect fence it will be eliminated. Horses
displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated.

The Lightweight/Heavyweight Working Hunter class is a qualifying event for Horse of the Year Show, 7th-11th
October 2015. All horses must be registered on the current year BSHA Show Hunter Register. This class will be run
in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be
downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk.
In the Working Hunter Class, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first three will qualify to enter at the Horse
of the Year Show. No horse lower than third will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show
office.

SIDE SADDLE COSTUME CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE The sole criterion for this class is the
elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony.
Safe tack must be used. Detailed inspection of the rider’s period costume is not required. Fancy dress
is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but
the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. Two Special rosettes to the
highest placed Registered Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship
Points Card. Competitors should produce a brief resume about their costumes for the Commentator.
Juniors must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above for this class. Adult riders not
wearing such hats do so at their own risk. There will be no prize money for this class but a trophy will
be presented. THE EQUESTRIAN MAGAZINE 2000 TROPHY No 249. A Special Rosette will be
awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior members of the SSA.
Class 17
SIDE SADDLE RIDING CLUB HORSE/PONY Open to horses and ponies 4 years old or over. Riders
will be required to give a short show including a small jump, maximum 61 cms (2 ft). The height may be
adjusted during the course of the class at the Judge’s discretion. The class shall be judged on the show,
the manners of horse/pony and its suitability for the rider. Conformation will not be considered. A Special
rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Registered Adult and Registered Junior Members of the
SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Hats to current British Safety Standards or
above must be worn for this class.
Class 18
THE SIDE SADDLE ASSOCIATION EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUNIOR QUALIFYING
CLASS Run under SSA rules defined in the current Members Handbook. Open to SSA Registered
Junior Members and Non-Members aged under 18 on 1 January of the current year. Members
carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd place and SSA
Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under
14 on 1 January of the current year. Manor Grange Stud Show Centre offer a rosette to the Junior
Member, judged to be the best turned out.

THE SIDE SADDLE ASSOCIATION EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS - ADULT QUALIFYING
CLASS Run under SSA rules defined in the current Members’ Handbook. Open to SSA Registered
Adult Members and Non-Members aged 18 or over on 1 January of the current year. Members
carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd place and SSA
Championship Points. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member, judged to be
the best turned out.
Class 11 Ladies Side Saddle Horse of the Year, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first five will qualify to
enter at the Horse of the Year Show, no horse lower than fifth will qualify. Only horses registered with the BSHA are
eligible to enter. Registration Numbers must be quoted on entry forms.
Classes 16 - 19 are run under SSA Rules defined in the current Members’ Handbook and are open to SSA Members
and Non-Members (see individual class for details).
QUALIFIER FOR THE SIR LANCELOT MEMORIAL TROPHY
A Special rosette will be offered to the Registered Adult Member, carrying their current Championship Points Card, of
the SSA Area in which the show is organised, who during the Equitation Qualifier Class (irrespective of final
placing) is judged to be the most elegant. That member will be eligible to complete in the Final for the Sir Lancelot
Memorial Trophy (donated by the late Mrs E Skelton) at the National Side Saddle Show. A Member may only qualify
once per season between one National Show and the next, and if the Judge’s first choice has already qualified, the
rosette will be awarded to the next eligible competitor.

a) This class is for 4, 5 & 6 year old & over athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the
top of their sphere.
b) All horses must exceed 148cm (14.2hh approx).
c) Riders must have proof of horse’s age (ie registration document, passport). Riders and Owners have to be
members of SHB(GB).
d) All ages date from 1 January, eg a foal becomes a yearling on the first day of January following that of its birth.
e) Horses will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot and canter, of approx 1 minute, to be awarded
marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown. Marks for type
and temperament will be awarded out of a possible 20.
f) All horses are required for a conformation assessment, to be awarded marks out of a possible 50.
g) All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book.
h) Snaffle bridles must be worn as per rules for British Eventing, dressage. Bitless bridles and Wilkie snaffles are
not allowed.
i) Martingales are not allowed but neck straps are permitted.
j) Horses will enter the ring as a class and be seen in walk, trot and canter before being called in and asked to do
an individual show.

The following classes for Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs & Riding Horses are held under the rules of the British Show
Horse Association. Competitors, Horses and Producers must be registered or have temporary membership with a
Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA
Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. No entry
form will be accepted unless accompanied by the Registration Numbers.
Classes (25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 33, 34) are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, 7th-11th October 2015. The first prize
winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified, then the second will qualify. If the first and second are
already qualified, then the third will go forward and so forth to fifth place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of
the Year Show office. In accordance with the BSHA rules the annual BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee of £15 must
have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year
Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show contribution, which goes to
Grandstand Media Ltd. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the
Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk.
Horses competing at the Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in The Hunter sections of The Sport
Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse
classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB(GB) Ridden Sport Horse
classes.
The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic
Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show in September 2015.
The BSHA offer a Novice Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each
section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse and HOYS Hunter classes).
Vibrac Ltd are committed to supporting horse owners through the innovative 3D Working concept, will issue the
HOYS qualified Cob in each class with a qualification rosette and card. This will not be presented in the ring but will
be forwarded by post. Confirmation of qualification for HOYS will come as a separate letter by post. More information

Day Tickets Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse per season. A
Day Ticket will allow entry into Novice classes only. It will not allow entry into Horse of the Year Show qualifying
classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day
Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.
IDHS (GB) - Special Incentive Cards The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards
to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse, in the following Classes 27-34. To be
eligible exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on their Irish Draught Breed Registers or
Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on entry form.
Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge This show is a qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society
(GB) £2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following Classes 27-34

that is registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, ie with a
minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught Breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000
Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify but must be on the
IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 12
& 13 September 2015 at the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln, LN2 2NA. NB: A horse may only
qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each
qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form
CHA www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. Following submission of
the online form, a qualifier’s pack will be sent out direct to the qualifier. In the Final, the Champion will be
awarded £1,000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to

CHERIF CHAMPIONSHIP
This ridden qualifying competition is open to registered Anglo & Part-bred Arab stallions, mares and geldings, four
years old and over any height. All Part-bred Arabs must contain the minimum 12.5% Arab blood. Novice classes or
those mixed with Pure-bred Arabs are not eligible for Cherif Championship qualification.
Classes 52, 53 & 54. This is a qualifying show for the CHERIF CHAMPIONSHIP 2015. The final will be held at the
Cherif Championship Show, Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Addington, Bucks, on 16 September 2015. All
details and qualifying cards at £25.00 each (payable to Cherif Championship) from : Miss L Temple, The Stables,
Ashton Gifford Lane, Codford, Wiltshire, BA12 0JX. Please state the name and accurate height of horse/pony. SAE

148 cms and under – to qualify : One Pink Card (up to 138 cms) and one Blue Card (over 138-148 cms). Will not
be ridden by the judge, but will be ridden by a lightweight Judge at the Cherif Championship final. Two entries
may qualify. The highest placed entries within the first four in the class, who have not already qualified will qualify.
Over 148 cms – 153 cms – to qualify : One White Card and one Green Card. Will be ridden by the judge. The
highest placed entry within the first four in the class who has not already qualified, will qualify.

All exhibitors are issued with colour coded qualifying cards, which state the height section of the horse/pony.
Competitors must carry their qualifying cards with them in the ring to be signed by the judge. Failure to produce the

This competition is open to stallions, mare or geldings 4 years old and over, registered within one or more of the following
stud books. All partbred stud book registration numbers for each of the following breeds is required on the entry form.
a) The partbred or anglo arab section of the Arab Horse Society with a minimum of 12.5% Arab blood.
b) The partbred section of the Welsh Pony & Cob Stud Books with a minimum of 12.5% Welsh blood.

Riders and Owners must be members of either NPS, P(UK), TSR, BSPS, CHAPS, AHS, WPCS, DPS, BCPS or
NFPB&CS. Riders of stallions must have obtained their 14th birthday before the 1 January in the current year.
This class will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy

BSPA Royal International Horse Show Qualifiers
These classes are affiliated to the British Skewbald & Piebald Association and are qualifiers for the Royal
International Horse Show Hickstead, Tuesday 28 July 2015. Classes will be judged under BSPA rules, download from
www.bspaonline.com. All horses/ponies MUST be registered and all owners & riders must be BSPA members
prior to the Show. Rider’s age taken from 1 January. Membership and qualification cards must be carried in the ring
by competitors and produced as required for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will mean disqualification. Spurs
may not be worn in any pony class. Ponies 153 cm or under (Shetlands exempt) must possess a current JMB height
certificate. All stallions must be graded with BSPA and in possession of a BSPA stallion ID card which must be
carried at all times and produced on request. All stallions must wear a BSPA Stallion disc. No rider under 15 may
exhibit a stallion in any class. No competitor/owner/horse may compete in this class or enter the ring without current
2015 membership of BSPA and a RIHS qualification card.
Qualification : 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd qualify from each class. No
competitor may qualify from lower than 3rd place. Skewbald and Piebald horses/ponies only.
Highest placed amateur and highest placed junior in each class qualify for amateur and junior supreme championship
finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championships on 23 August 2015 at The College EC, Keysoe,

The essence of the class is the word “ELEGANCE” and the winner will be the turnout which, in the
opinion of the Judge, presents the most elegant effect. This will obviously include vehicle, horse,
driver, passenger, etc, but above all the general impression. Attention may well be paid to driver’s and

The following classes are qualifiers for the Ridden Mountain & Moorland Pony of the Year Championship, NEC
Birmingham, 7th-11th October 2015. This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and
over, to be registered in and complying with the showing requirements of the main body of their respective stud
books. Partbreds and mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete. Riders can
be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions who must have attained their 12th birthday (small breeds) or
14th Birthday (large breeds) before 1 January in the current year. Correct riding attire must be worn, spurs are not
allowed and whips must not exceed 30”. Riders and owners must be members of their respective breed society, NPS,
Ponies (UK), BSPS or TSR. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant Breed Societies.
This class will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy

Judges may only judge one Horse of the Year Show M&M Ridden qualifying competition during the current year and
marks must be awarded as follows:

3rd birthday by the day of competition and not have attained their 12th birthday before 1 January in
the current year. The highest placed pony not already qualified from the first three will qualify to
compete at Horse of the Year Show 2015. Riders and owners must be members of their respective
breed society, NPS, P(UK), TSR or BSPS.
Marks will be awarded in the following way:

Winners of classes 200, 201 & 202 will qualify for the ‘Star Seeker Championship’ to be held at the BMHS Breed
Show in September. The winner of that Championship will, subject to vetting, be eligible for the BMHS Stud Book and
will qualify for the RIHS 2016 in its appropriate class. Horses will not be measured on the day but will be measured

This is a qualifying show for HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, NEC Birmingham, 7th-11th October 2015, Birmingham,
and the highest placed pony (not already qualified) in the first five placings of the Open Ridden Pony Classes, The
Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Hunter Pony, Working Hunter Pony Classes and Lead Rein Pony of Hunter Type,
Intermediate Show Riding Type and Intermediate Show Hunter will qualify to compete there. Qualification will be
verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set
out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk.
This is also a qualifying Show for the British Show Pony Society Championships to be held at Arena UK, Grantham.
Qualifications for the Championship Show are as per 2015 Official Rule Book. Owners and Riders must be BSPS,
NPS, Ponies (UK) or The Showing Register members and the pony registered with the BSPS, NPS, Ponies (UK) or
The Showing Register to compete in classes with the Horse of the Year Show qualifications.
THE BLUE RIBAND PONY OF THE YEAR The 1st & 2nd placed ponies in the LR/FR/3 Open SP/ 3 Open WHP,
122cm SHP & 3 Open SHP classes & 1st and 2nd from Intermediate SRT/WH/SHT will qualify to go forward to this
competition. The final will be held in the Champions Hall at the BSPS Championships Show. To qualify the pony must
be owned, registered and ridden by a BSPS member.
THE BSPS CLASSIC SECURITY (UK) LTD CHALLENGE Leading Rein, First Ridden, Open Show Ponies, Open
Nursery Stakes, Open Working Hunter Ponies, Open Show Hunter Ponies and Open Intermediate - the highest
placed pony that has not qualified for the 2015 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class, will qualify. If the
highest placed pony has already qualified for the Challenge, the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.
If after qualifying the pony qualifies for the Horse of the Year Show it will forfeit its qualification for the Challenge.
CRADLE STAKES The highest placed pony that has not qualified for the Challenge will qualify. If the highest placed
pony has already qualified, the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.

BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE COMPETITION This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League Competition, the
qualification will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th placed ponies in the following classes. Cradle Stakes and
Nursery Stakes. The final to be held at the BSPS Championships Show.
BSPS “BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES” BEST RIDER This is a qualifier for the BSPS best rider of the year. The best
rider in each Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, and LR of Hunter Type, Cradle Stakes, Nursery
Stakes, WHP, Intermediate SRT, SH & WH classes will receive a card and qualify for the final at the Summer
Championships Show.
NCPA PONY OF THE YEAR SHOW This show is a qualifier for the NCPA Pony of the Year Show at Rodbaston
College, Staffordshire in September 2015. First and second prize winners in appropriate classes will qualify.
PONIES ASSOCIATION (UK) 1st, 2nd and 3rd horses/ponies in each qualifying class will qualify for the P(UK)
Supreme Championships 2015 and the Winter Classic 2016. Qualification cards will be awarded in the ring and Gold
Tickets will be awarded to the Winner/Champion of each affiliated section. Placings will be confirmed by results sent

PASSPORTS AND HEIGHT CERTIFICATES must be brought to the Show as they may be checked by Trading
Standards. No Pony measuring will be carried out on the Showground.
DISEASE No animal will be accepted on the Showground with any sign of disease condition as confirmed by an
appointed Veterinary Surgeon. Offending animals must be withdrawn from the Showground immediately.
VETERINARY FEES Exhibitors will be expected to meet any fees for veterinary attention which may be charged at the
time.
ENTRY FEES Under no circumstance will entry fees be returned in the case of cancellation of entries by an exhibitor or
postponement or cancellation of the Show for whatever reason. Refunds will only be given on the production of a valid
veterinary certificate together with the return of all exhibitor tickets and gate passes.
SUBSTITUTION Except in the case of Show Jumping, no substitution of entries will be permitted in any section after the
closing date for entries. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN AN ENTRY WHICH HAS BEEN INCORRECTLY
ENTERED IN THE WRONG CLASS MOVE CLASSES.
ATTENDANTS Exhibitors or their attendants must remain with their exhibits during the whole time they are at the Show
and must comply with and be governed by the Society’s Rules and Regulations.
HEADWEAR Anyone riding a horse or pony must wear a hat to British Standard specification and of a standard
approved by the governing body of their respective horse or pony society.
NUMBERING OF EXHIBITS All exhibits must wear the number supplied by the Society for the appropriate class during
the judging or in the Parade.
JUDGING will commence as near as circumstances allow, at the times stated in the Schedule under the respective
sectional headings and exhibitors will be held responsible for their exhibits being in their respective ring at the proper
time.
JUDGES named in the Society’s Prize Schedule and Show Catalogue have been appointed and consented to act as
Judges in the events indicated. The Committee reserves the right to appoint substitutes for any who may be unavoidably
prevented from attending and all entries are accepted upon that understanding.
PROTESTS Any exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest must do so in writing to the Executive Director (within one hour of
completion of judging) on the Show day together with the sum of £25.00. All protests to be investigated by a committee
consisting of at least three members of the Council whose decision shall be final.
STEWARDS The Committee delegates full power to the Stewards to enforce the Society’s Rules and Regulations.
DISCLAIMER Whilst the Society will take all reasonable steps to prevent accidents to persons or injury to property,
neither the Society nor its Officers or Servants accept responsibility for such accidents or injuries howsoever caused and
whether or not involving negligence on the part of any such officers or servants.
The Show, its Officers or Servants, shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused, that may
occur to any exhibitor or his servant, or to any article, animal, or property brought into the Showground, or while entering
or leaving the Showground. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may have been
done to or occasioned by, or arising from, any machinery, or other article, or any animal or property exhibited by him. It is
a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall indemnify and hold harmless the Show from and against all actions, suits and
claims on account of such damage or injury. The Society through its Secretary (or Show Director) shall have full and free
right to refuse to accept any entry, to cancel any entry after being made and accepted, to refuse admission to the
Showground of any proposed exhibit and/or to remove or order to be removed at the risk and expense of the owner
thereof any exhibit which has been admitted to the Showground. There shall be no obligation upon the Show Committee
to make or offer any explanation or reason for any such action and the Show Committee shall not incur any liability or
responsibility in this matter.
POSTPONEMENT OR ABANDONMENT Exhibitors shall not have any claim against the Society or any member of the
Society in respect of any loss or damage whatsoever consequent upon the Show failing (for whatever reason) to be held.
EXERCISING of horses must not be carried out on the Showground Roads, Walkways, Main Ring or Judging
Rings. Only exhibitor and groom to be allowed in the collecting rings.
PRIZE MONEY Prize vouchers will be issued with rosettes in the ring and prize money can be collected from the ICE PLC
cash point located by the main ring on Show days. Alternatively prize vouchers can be sent to the Show Office before 31
July. Prize vouchers received after this date will not be paid out. Prize money will not automatically be issued
without a prize card voucher being sent to the Show Office. Other additional payments will be issued by the Show
Office within 8 weeks of the Show. Cheques not banked by end of September will be invalid and the Society will donate
the value of the cheque to a charity of their choice.
TROPHIES Winners of trophies will be required to sign an undertaking to return the trophy at their own expense
by 1 April in the following year. Trophies must not be taken outside the UK.
DOGS No dogs will be allowed in the rings to accompany any entries in any classes. No dogs will be allowed in horse
walks or collecting rings.
DOPING The Society takes a very serious view of doping, whether intentional or unintentional. It is the responsibility of
the exhibitor, particularly in the twenty four hours before the Show, to ensure that nothing is fed, administered or applied
to an animal that contains a prohibited substance. Ignorance is not an adequate defence.
CURRENT ANIMAL WELFARE LEGISLATION applies at this Show and the Society will support by action where any
breach of such legislation occurs.
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT of any description brought to the Show must have a current PAT test certificate.
ENTRIES CLOSE WITH FEES – 10 APRIL 2015 - NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED.
