2016 touch a truck day! - Communities In Schools of Lee County

2016 TOUCH A TRUCK DAY!
Benefitting Communities In Schools of Lee County
Presented by: The Raleigh Executive Jetport and Central Carolina Community College
Communities In Schools of Lee County will be hosting this year’s Touch A Truck Day on Saturday, April
23. Planes, trucks, equipment and vehicles of all shapes and sizes will gather at The Raleigh Executive
Jetport from 10am to 2pm where children of all ages will have the chance to touch, play and explore
these amazing vehicles!
Communities In Schools (CIS) is the leading dropout prevention organization in the nation, and has
continued its strong model and significant results by serving at-risk students in Lee County since 2004.
CIS addresses the complex obstacles faced by today’s youth—poverty, unstable home lives, dangerous
neighborhoods, limited access to transportation or to health care. Removing these obstacles can allow
an at-risk student to progress undistracted in school, graduating prepared for enrollment, employment
or enlistment, and feeling empowered to achieve and succeed. Through a school based site coordinator,
CIS connects students and their families to critical community resources, tailored to meet individual
student needs, be they academic or personal. As a result, CIS provides the link between our educators
and the community, which means teachers are free to teach, and students—particularly those who are
in danger of dropping out—can focus on learning. Communities In Schools consistently delivers
outstanding results for our community’s most vulnerable and at-risk students. We hope that you will
partner with us in our ongoing mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering
them to stay in school and achieve in life.
This is a great opportunity to showcase your business, connect with the community and help
Communities In Schools – all at a great, family friendly event! Please complete the attached application
and return it by April 1, 2016. A rain date is also scheduled for April 30.
If you have questions about the event please feel free to contact us at 919-718-5426 or
[email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there!
