Compass Professional Development Program
Knowing how to produce your own creative work is a useful skill for an independent
artist. Compass is a new mentorship program which provides business skills and
industry knowledge to help you with your career in the arts.
Participants will be paired with an industry mentor, gain access to professional
networks, learn about producing, project management and marketing skills and
receive one-on-one producing support if they are producing a Festival event. Artists
and producers who are not presenting work in the 2016 Festival are also welcome to
submit an EOI for consideration.
Compass is an inclusive program for people with and without disability.
Is Compass for you?
 Are you an artist or aspiring producer?
 Do you want to develop your arts business skills?
 Do you want to learn the tools that producers use to produce work?
 Are you interested in learning more about the arts industry?
 Do you want to expand your industry networks?
If you answered yes, then you can apply. Even if you don’t have something you want
to present in 2016, the skills you learn will help you build a career, discover more
about the arts industry and develop new ideas. Who knows, you may end up coming
up with a project for the 2017 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Artists with disability and artists from diverse backgrounds are strongly
encouraged to apply.
