JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Insight Officer Hours: 37 hours per week Salary: SCP 21: £20,138 to SCP 25: £22,658 Contract: Fixed Term; 31 March 2018 (Potential extension subject to funding) Location: National Squash Centre and Regional Arena, Rowsley Street, Manchester, M11 3FF Directly responsible to: Analyst Key external partners: New Economy, Sport England, Behavioural Insight Team, GM Universities, GM Health and Social Care Team, Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAAs). Key Outcomes of Post: To create an evidence base and business case for sport and physical activity in Greater Manchester, in order to inform and improve future practice. To grow GreaterSport’s research, insight and evaluation offer so it becomes financially sustainable. Increase GreaterSport’s knowledge on Greater Manchester and its non-active cohorts. To present information and communications effectively and consistently both internally and externally for maximum impact. Key Tasks: Greater Manchester To collect, analyse and interpret a wide range of data and information in order for GreaterSport and external partners, to understand local trends in physical activity. To conduct both quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation of sport and physical activity projects/ programmes, to inform future delivery and share good practice. To keep up to date with developments in research methodology, economic and statistical data, policy and good practice in similar organisations. To work collaboratively with partners to identify new areas of research and evaluation that could shape and drive their future programmes, and where appropriate secure commercial revenues for services over and above standard practice. To ensure meaningful information is presented and communicated effectively in a consistent way both internally and externally to local and National partners for maximum impact. To become the expert on place (Greater Manchester) and people (traditional non-active cohorts). To position GreaterSport as the ‘thought leaders’ within this field of work. Responsibilities to GreaterSport To support the delivery of GreaterSport events such as the Greater Manchester Sports Awards and School Games. To use GreaterSport’s CRM system, ThankQ, to ensure effective communication and that company contacts are kept up to date To ensure that equity is integral to all work areas and programme development. To remain flexible and adaptable to any additional demand as it is confirmed, and to be available to work different hours including weekends / evenings as required. The post holder may be required to travel to areas in around Greater Manchester. To attend any staff meetings or other sessions as may be required by the post, for the purposes of team or personal development.
